Yeaa as soon as Bottas punctured and Max pitted, Merc should have played it safe. Hamilton could have easily punctured in the wrong place and DNF'd.

This is pretty much the only race we haven't heard lewis on the radio complaining about tyres, ironically enough

I think the implication is without the pit stop max would've had a puncture too then it would've been a 3 wheel race between them both to the finish.

The big question is when they knew Max was pitting, why didn't they pit lewis, they had acres of time and their 2nd car had just punctured, so they should've out of precaution

Yeah! When I saw the pit my first thought wasn't "FL push" but "Precaution for puncture".

I'd be up for that kind of finish. Maybe we could also have a "Nige" and someone get out and push.

plus that was on Kvyat incident, they could had pitted later to avoid this situation but they took advantage on SC

at least Ferrari didn't had this issues, maybe because they're slower and don't stress the tires

I think even Lewis couldn’t believe the luck this time. That was really something.

In the end it reminds me of indy 2011, a very boring race with a crazy finish that will be talked about for a long time

You know how lucky Hamilton is? Even if they gave out their all time favorite 5 second time penalty for driving with a damaged car, Hamilton would have still won by just under a second.

And since Bottas scored no points, Hamilton could soon miss two races due Corona like Perez and still be leading the championship.

if Hamilton gets corona they'll halt the championship until he recovers

So are we now going to have a Silverstone 2013 situation with teams trying to push the tires beyond the recommended limits (often times more) and then have them blow out and then say ohh its a safety thing lets change them??

Do they really need to reconsider the softer compounds for next weekend? Teams will have three practice sessions to gather data. Just make more stops if you have to, right? Or have I oversimplified things?

the problem is that the teams want to bend the rules on their favor and they simply get it, and that's why Vettel won a shitload of races in 2013

Yeah exactly. They still had an opportunity to pit Hamilton when Verstappen pitted. As you said, Hamilton's tire failure could've easily sent him off track and beached him in the gravel. Very very lucky win.

Nah, chances are they won't all pile in under an SC/VSC around the same lap next weekend.
