Some noise around Hulkenberg but I'll be surprised if it's not Gutierrez. Will be interesting to see what he can do in a good car at short notice. Imagine it'll be the equivalent of a weekend like Di Resta's at Hungary three years ago. Anything better would be quite impressive

Hulkenberg with the chance to finally drive a Mercedes after being denied in 2017.

And he can beat the same Renault that dumped him last year. How awesome that would be.

This would be a pretty crazy way for Hulkenberg to get his first ever F1 podium...

How convenient for tracing point. A easy and cheap way to make room for vettel?

Upgraded to "deafening noise around Hulkenberg" - Gutierrez can't race as he'd need to do 300 km of testing to become eligible as he's been away for so long

Can that 300 km of running be done during Friday Free Practice?

I don’t mind about Gutiérrez, but it’s sad that test drivers can’t even get proper running to have a valid racing superlicense.

The whole points thing it’s ridiculous. Teams should be able every year to give a couple of young drivers enough running to be able to get a license. Doesn’t matter if you raced in an AvtoVaz spec series in Ukraine, if you’re competent in a Grand Prix car over a couple of days of testing, you should be able to get a superlicense.

Not every driver is Yuji Ide.

The testing ban is, as you are aware, another of those rules introduced in the name of "cost-cutting", and if there was anyone with the ability to think logically involved in the running of the sport, it would be gotten rid of at the end of this year.

But there isn't, so it won't.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

What are we going up to next: Sonic Boom noise?

It'd be massively cruel for Hulkenberg to get the drive, get the podium then Renault once again deny him when their protest goes through and Racing Point gets stripped of all results due to copy/pasting the Merc.

Someone should write a film about him if that happens.

I haven't. He doesn't deserve a test drive at all either but money/sponsors really help with convincing da bosses...

God I hope Hülkenberg gets the drive, even if it's for 1-2 races.

Sure, it's only 50 laps. They could spread that over FP1 and FP2.

But imagine if that's the plan and Gutierez crashes or has a serious mechanical problem...

Should be bone dry all weekend long, sadly not as hot this weekend as it's going to be today.

Hulkenberg seems to be the most capable driver available with such short notice.

Some reason I believe that this might not be the only Corona related driver change this year.

Could Markelov be considered? Already sponsored by BWT, has Russian money and has done miles in F1 sessions.

Hülkenberg was supposed to be an expert for RTL this week, now florian König (F1 moderator for RTL) has said that HULK will not appear as an expert this week

Pretty sure that's him confirmed.

Edit: Apparently he's been added to the live timing.
