About Lewis well dont know, yes he deserves a penalty but looking at his onboard his car was not sliding, or neither he was braking late like in Brazil, nor was his steering wrong. He turned in and didnt had a wooble or anything, but these things happen..

Well at least it was entertaining, Vettel did not dissapoint he continued where he left last year, spins and mistakes...

Actually dunno about sensors. No patience to search it out so guess wait and see. They'll definitely be changing the sensors, that's for sure.

isn't FIA that impose what brand of sensors they must put on the cars?

Standard gearboxes

I thought gearbox is still team (or PU manufacturer) designed and they get to use what ever sensors they please.

Anyhow, looks to me that all manufacturers had issues with this except for Ferrari, they were probably too slow on kerbs too.

Misread what Lucas wrote , the standard gearboxes are coming in next season. Or is that delayed too?

You know the best thing about this race? We're doing this again, in a week. Not in another boring Tilkedrome. Same place, same setting, possibly different people at different positions and with grudges to boot

I'm only worried they will all fix their reliability issues, ending in less retirements and less safety cars

Yea messy race by Vettel for sure. But looking at his onboard footage from today, his car looked no where near the same spec as Friday or even Leclerc's today. Ferrari up to their shenanigans? Wouldn't put it past them...

Something I was thinking, the key moment of the weekend was Bottas messing up his final lap in Q3. Had Bottas been flawless that lap, there would be no penalty for Lewis and this could have been an easy win for him instead.

As great as the penalty to Lewis was in terms of getting McLaren back on the podium it was a racing incident for me that didn't warrant a penalty.

Where else was Lewis going to go? He didn't swipe him or run him right out to the very edge of the track. Could he have held a tighter line? yes. But he was also ahead going into the corner, didn't open up the steering to have him off. Albon was trying to go way around the outside into a gap that was always closing and was behind him when they started breaking. He wasn't side by side going into the breaking to which Hamilton would have had to take a tighter line. If contact was made then, then that would have been Hamilton's fault.

There is such things as racing incidents to which I thought this was one.

Either he can't control a race car or doesn't know how to loose anymore.


Anyway, what a great end of the race. The first 2 thirds were great as well to make lunch and take the garbage out.

The points last for 12 months.

After the yellow incident he's on 5 points.

he deserved the penalty, but it was purely a racing incident. his tyres were older than albon's and his front end understeered coming out of the corner. you can see lewis get out of the gas right before they make contact

lewis is probably the one driver in the field who will leave a cars width for you to race with. in 2016 that's how rosberg got into lewis' head - he drove dirty. rosberg knew that taking advantage of lewis' sense of sportsmanship was the only way he'd beat him to the title

They were required by contract to keep a car width or something like that after all the altercations in 2014. But Rosberg made all things possible, like warming up by kicking a soccer ball into Ham's trailer. And that forced caution at Monaco... And widening as much as possible at that corner entry at this track.

This wasn't a gearbox issue per se, like a sensor issue? These cars are computers on wheels. There's a fault with the electronics but not with the hardware and the computer simply switches into emergency mode (which usually means losing power and the engine hitting idle mode). I bet Red Bulls won't get any grid penalty either with both cars dropping out with pure electronics failure?
