The marshals deciding to push the Ferrari into the tunnel was an eye-opener yeah

A great bit of nostalgia today, I just love the look of 1980s cars so much (even if most of them weren't exactly up to spec with bits smashed off them during a long race around the gruelling Monaco circuit )

Sadly it didn't seem to generate as many viewers on the live broadcast or on the companion reddit thread/twitter hashtag or whatever else
I hope that doesn't stop the social media guys from having another deep dive into their archives in the future.

I just know though that soon they'll go for an unmemorable race like Vettel's first Ferrari win or something else where they can promote a big result that came after a so-so-event and it'll get 5x the viewers just because people only watch for the result of their favourite team/driver, apparently.
Then they might not risk going back so far again

Here's hoping that doesn't happen, anyway

Well, on Saturday they show a "classic" of the current generation, on wednesday it has always been a true classic.

before the 80's several races were held on saturdays, mostly because Britain used the sunday for religious service. I'd rather see more races on saturday either, never been fond of sundays anyway as it precede mondays

Last race on a Saturday IIRC was Kyalami in 1985.

Kyalami is also the last place to have a race in January (1982)

I wouldn't mind seeing a race on the old Zandvoort track.

Come to think of it, the past weekend should have been the return to Zandvoort. They should air the latest race there to commemorate that.

Which was in 1985, although there were already some chicanes on the old track by then.

Next: USA 2018. I'm not going to waste one second on that.
Vettel does something stupid as always, Kimi wins his first in a long time. There, that's all you should remember from this race.

damn it didn't even rained out. The US GP they could be showing is 1990, 2003 and 2004

Yeah, again a race picked for the result than the action

Kimi's last win is a nice story, but meh....race wasn't great was it? Honestly can't remember it
It's probably more that last week was a great performance by Lewis so they felt they had to put on another Ferrari win to balance it out

Next sat will probably be a Red Bull win to balance it out too

Oh well, at least we have Wednesdays...

I remember Lewis was close to Kimi pits for a good time, and then Max overtook Lewis and they had a pretty good battle in the final laps that was crucial for Kimi to win. At the very least, it was a good race with something to watch from start to finish. I guess there is a certain bias against re-airing hybrid-era races here as it seems an attempt to promote the product they have in hands now, which I can't argue with. But this was a good race indeed. It would have been a good one if it was another driving winning, and it got more historical value with the final win of a fan-favorite champion.

EDIT: This race is far better, in terms of action than, say, Spain 1996. Which after Schumacher takes the lead the only action left is a bunch of spins and cars breaking.

I have just rewatched Brazil 2012. FFS, what a race. I guess you can watch the full race twice in a row and still not getting enough of it.

Yes, it is! But I'd rather the thrill of the 2nd place chasing the leader (especially when it Hamilton chasing Räikkönen) than seeing Jos Verstappen in the gravel trap with his Arrows.
