Silverstone 2008 is next. Another wet race. Dry races are just not that interesting after all these years.

12 races (you forgot the first one, Brazil 2016), 8 of them wet.

that classic race bonanza will leave us very unaccustomed once racing resumes. I can already see after the 6th straight win from Mercedes people like me shouting "stop with this travesty, show more classic racing"

anyway today is 26 years without Senna, the weekend that changed F1 forever

Sky F1 have posted the 1999 European GP and 2006 Hungarian GP with the people involved watching along. (Sorry if you can't view this outside the UK)

That European Grand Prix has to be one of the best all time races. I always remember the accidents and retirements, but some of the racing was brilliant. The front four were so close together in the opening laps. Whilst it looked difficult to overtake, Hakkinen was very close to Frentzen and looked like he might have half a chance to overtake somewhere, and Ralf was brilliant when the rain started to fall. I'd completely forgotten how good the battle for second was at the end. Trulli's defensive driving was great. Rubens was all over the Prost.

As a Fisichella and Minardi fan, I still find it difficult to watch, but I'm not sure if Fisi would have been a deserving winner. He was quick, but went off the road at least four times. Ralf was very unlucky.

Would've been nice if they had done Silverstone 1998 instead of 2008 next but I'll take it.

Who was old enough to have seen this live? The race is famous for its last laps, is it also fun to watch before those final laps?

I'm not sure a lot happened, but I will watch it "live" to make sure I don't miss anything!

Arnoux lead early on then crashed himself.

It was gonna be a Prost snoozer but he crashed with 3 laps left and then all hell broke loose.

at least in those days reliability was a key player

Every classic race that comes up reminds me that classic races are not necessarily action-packed ones. You might have a fun race that is forgotten after the season ends and a race that becomes an unforgettable classic because of 5 laps or so.

What I like most about this old races, isn't about the action or a particular incident, but just watching and realizing how different things were in different aspects of the sport.

So, I don't mind watching a race from 2016, even if it is considered an instant classic.

first minute of broadcast, Murray says weather is ideal for racing at Monaco. Yes, ideal for mayhem

Crazy that Patrese chose a specific V8 engine, when his teammate Piquet chose the BMW turbo. Imagine Hamilton chosing the Mercedes V10 before the race, when his teammate Bottas chooses the Honda V6 turbo after deciding after practice that this was suiting him better.

At lap 23 or so, at least on par with 2019!

even on noise levels, things only started getting interesting on camera in 1989
