I feel the deal regarding the name is a timed thing as well and the name Williams will dissapear completely in the next 2-3 years if not sooner.

Elsewhere, Marko gave an interview yesterday confirming that, as part of the new Concorde, every team has the right to withdraw at the end of each season. Red Bull in particular wanted this clause as Honda are not yet committed for the period.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Yeah that's a certainty. We will soon lose the name from the grid, I'd bet 2021 will be the least season under the Williams name.

Yeah, I'd give it 2-3 years at best before the Williams name is gone. Business is business.

well the team was there to record profits, not to win

so they cashed on their pay drivers instead of focusing on performance. Seeing that they'll not reach Mercedes, they're right but the fans needed to be aware of that

She oversaw the transformation of the team from scoring 5 points and only finishing ahead of Marussia and Caterham to finishing 3rd behind only Mercedes and Red Bull in a year. In any other era, they'd have won a few races between 2014 and 2016. Even as recently as 2017, they were still 5th ahead of better-funded teams like Renault and McLaren

Yeah, the performance dropped off but that was almost entirely down to financial reasons that came from being an independent team at a time when corporations around them are spending shitloads. Even keeping the team alive in the last couple of years since Lawrence Stroll pulled out should be considered an achievement itself. The only real misstep was hiring Paddy Lowe, but I don't think anyone thought that was a bad appointment at the time

I don't think we'll lose the Williams name unless the team gets sold on to a big corporation. It's a strong brand itself in the same way that McLaren is. In fact, I see the opposite happening - the Williams name being attached to more things, not fewer. If there's one criticism I have, it's that they haven't really fully exploited the Williams brand to the extent they could have

I personally dont think the blame falls fully on her. If she really was the sole reason I dont think Frank would have let her go on. Even being her daughter wouldnt have stopped him from firing her.

Its most likely multiple factors coming together at once

Anyway, I guess we can start speculating about who the new boss will be. Absolutely nothing to go on so going to stick my finger in the air and suggest Oliver Oakes

It's not really Claire's fault. Successful privateers are no longer viable in F1. Of course Red Bull is still here but only because Mateschitz provides more money than feasible for any other privateer (but even he bailed on NASCAR for instance). F1 is right back where it was in the 50s - works factory teams rule the house.

Claire had some issues, but I think all in all she did a good job.

Having a mutiny like the one that happened against Paddy Lowe was low, but keeping such a team in F1 with some dignity is a huge achievement. I hope to see her and the family actively involved with motorsport in some other way in the future.

Man, it really looks like the not-rich energy fella is staging a literal Weekend at Bernie's with that pic.

Cyril Alotofbullshit has been promoted to boss of Alpine and rumor has it the Alpine brand will replace Renault Sport. A rename of the F1 team is also rumored.
