May be lost in translation (literally), but what I take from that article is that a Perez switch to Williams, doesn't make as much sense economically, as it does talent-wise, and that if Mercedes aren't forcing the issue for them to keep Russell, it may actually happen.

The last part though, quoting Toto as in "then, we'll have a sensational subtitute driver", tells me that they are not even thinking on dropping Bottas (meh) and they must be very sure that Hamilton will remain with them, even if he isn't under contract yet (that is, if he doesn't throw a Rosberg and retires after this year's title win).

What I would do: I'd kick Bottas out of the team, and convince Hamilton to retire, then put Russell and buy Verstappen out of his Red Bull contract.

It would be interesting to see Bottas at McLaren for example. I think he has learned so much alongside Lewis that he would destroy his team mate, let it be Ricciardo, Norris or whoever. Though it could be that if fired, he would get depressed and retire altogether, I dunno. His psyche seems somewhat fragile.

But since it seems that there will be no future Finnish F1 drivers at least for a decade or so, I personally hope Bottas will remain at Mercedes a year or two longer than Hamilton.

What will happen is Lewis will sign a multi-year deal, Merc will keep Russell on and promise him a drive for 2022, then they'll decide they don't want to risk putting a driver in the car after a year out while Bottas is still competitive and will keep him on regardless

The problem Russell's got is that it's basically Merc or bust if Williams don't want him - McLaren are doing their own thing and he fell out with the Strolls years ago for calling them out on their bullshit in F3. It's ridiculous that it comes to that in F1 in the year 2020. Young drivers are in a complete bind if their dad isn't on the Forbes rich list - the only way to get into F1 is via a driver academy, but the driver academies aren't the way to establishing yourself for a long career, because they'll treat you like shit and will leave you on the sidelines after two years if you don't perform like the next Senna in the midfield

Teams and their driver academies are like a girl that you like and you want to take a chance with but she keeps on holding you on standby for a very long time

until she starts dating with an older guy

its like they know F1 is doomed and they're trying to milk it as fast as possible.

They want to go to Saudi Arabia. #WeRaceAsOne(unless we can get more money)

Not often you see important and intelligent commentary from motorsport.com: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/why- ... s/4899866/

While Verstappen says insulting disabled people and entire races is "not my problem", meanwhile Lando apologises for things he doesn't really need to apologise for: https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/norr ... s/4899911/

If anyone wonders why a lot of people still consider Max a mean entitled little shit who's apple hasn't fallen far from the tree, it's not because he's successful.

rumor has it that the teams agreed on a salary cap for drivers. $30 million for 2 drivers. Starting 2023. Current contracts that surpass that will be honored and not included in that.

Expect multi-year contracts to be signed at the end of 2022

I'm honestly shocked that I heard about what Lando said before this, and that the first I heard about it was this very article. With this, Petrov as a steward, and now the possible Saudi Arabia race, they might as well just not bother painting the rainbows over everything...

Come on, we always knew this message of solidarity was a load of bs. It's PR, nothing more.

Given the heritage associated with the name, I would be surprised if nobody owns the rights to it.

Yeah, wonder what happened with the naming rights once it became BAR. They're likely rather valuable.
