Hamilton clocking fastest laps now. This could be over soon.

Toro Rossos going at it, Gasly runs wide and loses a place to Raikkonen though.

Magnussen overcooks it and loses a place to Perez.

Magnussen should rescue either 9th or 10th despite a 5 sec. penalty.

Vettel made it sure that VSC would be pulled, knowingly ruining it for Charles.

Someone else who was really screwed by the VSC was Norris, who was really going well behind Sainz and then lost a lot of places to cars who could put on fresher tyres and stay in front

VSC really is the worst.

the main villain was pit stops. If everyone had tires that went the whole distance this farce wouldn't had happened at all

There was a lot of tension going at Ferrari because apparently drivers had an agreement that was broken. It seems they agreed Leclerc would tow Vettel but he should keep the lead, which didn't happen and Leclerc got pissed with that.

How i see it, to swap places makes only sense when the one behind is clearly faster which wasn't the case.
They wanted to use the pitstop for Leclerc to come out before Vettel to avoid further radio-troubles during the race. There was no other reason.
If Leclerc would've been the faster driver at the start off the race, it would've made sense to switch them, but he clearly wasn't

Now Leclerc Finished 3rd instead off 2nd or (1st?)
So maybe Leclerc’s attitude needs to change you can't demand a position swap by team orders if you aren't any faster than your team mate on that particular moment based on a (gentlement's?)agreement, its not Melbourne 1998 Hakkinen vs Coulthard with a extremely dominant car + whole lap ahead on the entire field.

The problem in this case is Ferrari trying to over-engineer the start of the race. Sounds like a discussion that just didn't need to happen

They've had 4 races as the fastest car and already their team mates are at logerheads

TBF it did take Mercedes 3 years for that to happen.

Well I think you have to give some credit there to the Mercedes management to keep things as smooth as possibly can be between the teammates. And of course in this case you've got a young Charles who seems to have already learned the team politics game quite well like a certain Spaniard. Doesn't help that Binotto is a spineless leader and there's probably a lot of interference from Nicholas Todt to give Leclerc a heavy push within the team...

Good job Mercedes for stealing this from Ferrari.

Both teams are equally known for such antics, they're both contributing to this plague to modern F1 (willingly lose time over competitors for driver management reasons).

But it's funny as all hell when it backfires horribly like today.

FIA should enforce some bad luck down Mercedes throat once in a while

I mean, it's not even like a driver can pull a Senna and fuck off to the win anyways. That would be fun to see at least and fuel the rivalry.

Vettel tried it today, but he was hostage to the pit stop and they pitted him late enough for the swap.

It was disgusting to watch. At least the Mercedes boys battled it out on opening laps a couple tiles this year.

Charles, here's a hint you young gullible sweetheart: want to keep the lead, cover your goddamn inside line at the start like a fucking race driver.

Nah. Vettel was told by Ferrari to stop the car immediately and he did well to pull over next to a break in the barriers. If the marshalls had moved a bit swifter they could've moved the car behind the barriers under double waved yellows.
