Not expecting much from Ferrari yet again but Bottas seriously needs to pick it up. He's falling away badly after his strong start to the season.

Mercedes equal McLaren's record of consecutive wins from 1988 if they win here. So that's something

This strong start is nothing else but winning in Baku which seems like his favorite circuit and Hamilton bogging down on start in Melbourne which is just about the most notorious can't overtake circuit there is. So it's more circumstances than anything esp. when you consider he blew two poles into non-wins as well.

Perhaps we need Gasly to get the flu at one race and out of Desperation Red Bull hire Ranganathan who has a clumsy moment when the Mercedes come to lap him.... :whistling:

Blew two poles and was 30 seconds behind Hamilton in Bahrain.

If you get behind your teammate by 30 seconds in a middle-pack team, this can mean 10 or more positions of difference. If you do it at a top tier team, this can mean you still have a shot at the podium.

In all fairness Hamilton was about that far in Melbourne too.

This is true. But as far as I am concerned, Hamilton had his floor damaged in Melbourne and nothing was said about Bottas having issues in Bahrain.

Let's just appreciate that the sponsor for the race is just a major Ponzi scheme.

Bottas has been mentally destroyed by Hamilton this year, after that sort-of strong start.

In the remaining races, I can't see Bottas snatching a win from Hamilton, unless LH has a problem or if he has clinched the title already.

After the Austrian race last year, Red Bull had already 3 victories!

I guess the Renault engine wasn't that bad at all...

Ferrari had also 3 race wins

Or maybe the Mercedes is that much better than those two.

I doubt RBR would have had a victory this year with the Renault engine.

yeah, probably not.

I think it must be the first time that an engine is the best one around, and they manage to even get better and better.

Since I am watching F1 there was the Porsche engine raping the field in 1984 and somewhat in 1985, with a decline in 1986 and not good anymore in 1987

Then there was Honda, superb in 1988, 1989 and 1990. In 1991 still victorious, but already showing weakness towards the Renault engine

Then the Renaults were outstanding in 1992 and 1993 and still good in 1994. We had Ford for a brief moment but then again it was Renault being the best in 1996 and in 1997, but Ferrari were getting level.

Then we had Mercedes, Ferrari had a somewhat longer period at the top.

But never took it that many years like Mercedes are doing now.

I guess the 'engine freeze' or at least the freeze on development is not a thing. if you got the best package at the start, it is difficult to get closer.

I honestly believed/hoped that the 2019 car would suffer because 2018 was quite harder for them with Ferrari and later Red Bull challenging them.

so in that regard I am very impressed with their current form.

Paul Di Resta mentioned this a few minutes ago but I just spotted it when a rear T-cam shot was shown on one of Sky's Onboard feeds.

When the Renault opens it's DRS the DRS flap starts bouncing around & then the entire rear wing endplate starts twisting.
