When was the track built?
The Marina Bay Circuit arrived on the scene in 2008. A street track with the city's famous skyline as its spectacular backdrop, the initial circuit plan by Herman Tilke was refined by KBR Inc, while the event has quickly established itself as one of the standouts on the F1 calendar.

When was its first Grand Prix?
In 2008, Singapore had the honour of hosting the first night-time race in F1 history. The Grand Prix – the 15th round of that season – proved a huge hit with the teams and drivers, while Renault’s Fernando Alonso claimed a controversial victory.

What’s the circuit like?
The 5.073km Marina Bay Circuit is one of the most physically demanding on the calendar, its bumpy street surface coupled with humid conditions giving the drivers plenty to think about. With 23 corners, they are working the wheel a lot, too, around the high-speed lap – the physical stress causing them to lose as much as 3kg over the course of a race. The circuit also boasts some of the most unique features of any track on the F1 calendar, including Turn 18, which actually sees the drivers pass underneath a grandstand.

Why go?
If you want to see Singapore at its best, there’s no better time to do so than when Formula 1 arrives in the heart of this buzzing city. Get the lay of the land by taking a ride on the Singapore Flyer, a giant Ferris wheel overlooking the track’s permanent pits complex, then get stuck into Singapore’s incredible bar and restaurant scene. Cocktail fanatics should also make a pilgrimage to the famous Raffles Hotel – the proper home of the Singapore Sling (non-alcoholic versions are available!)

Where is the best place to watch?
Get yourself comfy in the grandstand located at Turn 1, which offers spectacular views as the cars accelerate into the first corner, before braking hard and whipping through Turns 2 and 3. You’ll get a great view of the start too – expect to see plenty of sparks fly as the drivers blast off the line.

Either way, it is going to be because Kimi is not helping him enough.

And today they already fucked it up, lol.

Call it "management issue" or shooting on their own leg or something.

They're probably due a parts change penalty for Vettel considering Lewis has had at least 1 already this year and also had his engine crap out on him in Austria.

Imagine if both Lewis and Sebastien had to start from the back here.
That'd be quite the race no matter what

In fact, if it ever happened in any of the races before the end of the season, you'd have the best race of the season and probably the past 5 years or more too.

In that scenario, I fail to see the excitement in a race where Bottas, or Kimi, or the RedBulls pull up enough of a gap to never be caught for victory.

Coming up the field is something we've seen numerous times this season, and it consists in just jumping all the field like they're semi-trucks on the highway, then getting stuck in the no man's land between the 6 top teams and the rest of the field. The points difference in the finishing position would be so small that Lewis wouldn't even risk attacking Vettel just to finish 5th instead of 6th. When there are multiple fast cars at the back, it's a little more fun indeed, but we've seen that in Italy already with Ric/Hulk/Vettel, and it's not enough in itself to make a race classic, something else has to be happening at the front.

But well we're at Singapore, and passing here is nothing like blowing past in a straight, so I admit it will be more fun than usual. It would be just Hamilton passing the field though - Vettel would've been long crashed in one of the walls.

Considering Vettel's raw speed at this track, I expect him to dominate qualifying and stick it on pole once again.

But considering the high likelihood of a SC here, and Ferrari's ability to fuck up their race strategy when things go awry, wouldn't be surprised to see Hamilton and possibly even both of the Red Bull boys fighting for the win. Danny Ric in particular has been in solid form around here and is due a win after 3 straight P2's

Massa's pass on the bridge is one of my favourite pieces of opportunism I have ever seen.

It was live onboard as well! Crazy moment that one.

And that's why 2012 is the best season in F1.

But yeah, Vettel has this locked up

Spoiler:
Unless it rains or he has to go wheel to wheel with someone.

nah Vettel will screw his last flying lap and Lewis will blast to earn pole to not be catched in the race thus getting another easy and boring victory

Nah, in reality Ricciardo will manage to secure pole in the last minute with Max 2nd, this time Max will revenge chop at the start into Vettel, taking out Hamilton, Vettel, Bottas and most of the field behind, leaving Kimi and Ricciardo to duel it out and Alonso to get his final podium.

Count on it.

Thing I learned today - Renault chose for Nelsinho to crash where he did in 08 specifically because there were no cranes there, so any crash there would automatically bring out the safety car

And there was me thinking he just decided to stick it in the wall anywhere. Clever

Have to give credit when credit is due. That's brilliant.
