He certainly did, but thank goodness he had protection called THE HALO

I watched the GP3 race this morning and it wasn't until at least halfway through that I noticed they didn't have the halo. It doesn't bother me any more

Imagine if the drivers head actually was where that support pole was :8:

It's not a massive, anti-halo conspiracy to point out the fact that Ericcson wouldn't have been hurt today if they didn't have one. It just didn't land near the helmet at all, just on the pole that's supposed to protect the driver from debris from the front.

You mean LeClerc right?

Never was going to hit his head and might just have put more debris in the cockpit

Yeah, him too.

But Halo definitely wouldn't have helped Erricsson

In the first picture, it looks like his mirror and the side of the cockpit itself have taken a hit. It's not 100% clear from the replay angles, but I'm pretty sure his front-left suspension and wheel were dragged up along the side of it as he went over Leclerc.

/Edit Oh shit his whole car bounced off of the top of it. Even if he would have only skimmed over the front of the cockpit, I think we can put to bed any arguments over the strength of the thing.

Nice slow mo of the start crash there, even if judging from the filter it's ripped off from an instagram post

FILTERED crap

Still the best angle of Daniel's Airz that I've seen though

Someone decided to do vertical Instagram filter crap. With horizontal that douchebag might have actually caught the whole thing properly, except for the filter.

I'm afraid the most filtered stuff is exactly the one we watch on TV.

As per the Leclerc stuff. Without Halo, Leclerc would probably be safe as he is now, but people would use this case as an argument in favor of Halo.

Why was Lewis not punished for cutting eau rouge at the first lap? At 23 seconds, all 4 wheels are outside the white lines. Or is it okay in the first lap? Damn inconsistencies.

Jesus Christ, this place has a stick up it's arse in who can try their hardest to hate Hamilton more.

Have you ever seen anyone be penalised for doing that in F1?

To be penalised for that slight cut, he'd probably have to either

1) Advance his position (but even Kimi managed to use the runoff to make up places at the first start then get a run on the force india at the restart and wasn't penalised, but it's ok right, cos Ferrari)

2) Do it about 20 times and set fastest sector times before being issued a warning, then 20 more times before being given a time penalty.

Considering he immediately lost a place as the FIA waited until Vettel got by before they threw the SC, you could argue it was actually a disadvantage, no?

Completely agree that you are talking nonsense.

I'm a Lewis hater, but damn, don't exagerate Hamilton's "fault". :D
He didn't deserve any penalty today. That didn't helped him in any way.

I don't think he kept his 4 wheels out of the track simultaneously at any time.

And the reason they didn't show a replay of the T1 crash from Alonso's OnBoard is that the initial hit seems to have broken the transmitter or something.
