Name Global Open Wheel Championship Teams 1 to 5 cars per team no manufacturers trophy except for engine manufacturers to lure automotive industry in the series Customer cars allowed Cars Dallara IR18 but teams are free to develop their own aero bits within the regulations, similar to F1 2019 aeros but with more ground effect allowed. V8, V10 and V12 at 3,0 liters versus 1,5 liter turbos with 4 to 6 cylinders. Weight advantage for engines that are based on stock blocks Min weight 720kg and 700 kg for cars with stock block Engines must run on bio-fuel No refueling during the race Tire changes allowed but not mandatory Steel brakes, 17-inch rims Four clearly different slick compounds, hard (might last full race on some circuits), medium (at least one stop needed if using only this compound), soft (three stops if using only this one) and qualifying tire, which can be used in race as well, but lasts only for like 10 laps at best. No Halo, Aeroscreen optional No ERS DRS Tracks Adelaide/Eastern Creek (taking turns between different seasons) Fuji Motegi oval 400km race Zhuhai Korean international circuit Sepang/Buddh (India) Algarve/Jerez Imola Slovakiaring Lausitzring oval 400km race Nordschleiffe, double points, 400km race Zolder/Zandvoort Rockingham oval 400km race Mo i Rana/KymiRing (evening race during Arctic summer) Moscow Raceway New Jersey New Hamsphire oval 250 miles Mosport Saint-Jovite Michigan 500 miles, double points Mid-Ohio Nashville 400 miles Road Atlanta Long Beach Fundidora Park Sao Paulo street circuit/Santa Cruz du Sol Buenos Aires Potrero de los Funes double points, 400km race Phakisa oval, double points 500km race So 29 race weekends, which is plenty but since it's a fantasy, I'd take that. Weekend Format Friday practice where team is allowed to use extra cars and drivers who are not in the championship, two 1,5h sessions 3rd practice, 45 mins in Saturday Qualifying in Saturday, 60min session split in three periods, first one eliminates bottom8 positions, second one determines top10 for the 3rd quali, where top10 has two shoot out laps Sunday is race day, 310km race distance or 2 hours unless said otherwise Race Format Starting grid as in qualifying Race Rules Similar to F1 but no VSC. Safety Car goes out if there's a hazard on track Safety Car by previous engine manufacturer's champion but needs to be eligible to have proper pace Points Structure Race points 25-18-15-12-10-6-4-3-2-1 Pole position gives 5 points Fastest lap gives 3 points Series has one main drivers championship title and 8 different smaller titles. Driver with most points at the end of the season is the Drivers World Champion. Eight other cups are following: European champion American champion (North American races) International champion Pole position champion Fastest lap champion Street course champion Road course champion Oval champion Each title give 10 points for the main drivers championship points total. The idea of these different titles and double point races is to spice things up and reward success in individual categories. Team orders leads to one race ban and disqualifying from the results for both drivers. If team order happens in double points race, the ban is two races. If there's multiple drivers from the team involved, the driver getting the advantage gets individual penalty for all the gained positions. If team order is given in the final race, drivers will get points taken away from previous race as well. One race ban would be the next season opener. |
