Yeah it's going to be 30F all weekend at Silverstone so they'll be prepared better, shame.

Any updates on the reason of the retirements of Ricciardo and the Mercs? Especially in relation to the number of componants they can use?

LOL 30C I meant.

30F might not be a bad thing though, might interject a bit of excitement into Silverstone, since it's as boring as fuck otherwise.

Bottas lost hydraulic pressure, which affected the gearbox. Not sure if there's a chance for a penalty in the next race.

The pressure loss was apparently in the power steering, so it's a bit odd that it affected the gearbox. If it just shut down a bunch of associated hydraulic systems I expect there would have been no damage to the gearbox itself.

Air temp in Austria wasn't that bad, in the low to mid-twenties according to commentators. In any case, the problem really stems from the fact that free practice all took place on a colder track, so the teams had virtually no data on long runs on a hot track. Add to it how close the field was, so everyone just started pushing like mad. On a regular week-end they'd probably adjust the settings and the driving style to make the tyres last.

The fast and abrasive Silverstone would be a blowout-fest in the same conditions. Obviously, most teams would opt for a safety stop, but you know there will be someone making the bet to stay ahead. Exciting stuff

Silverstone has been resurfaced for this year, so that'll add another variable: no-one will know how the new surface will grip compared to last year.

I'm also hoping for there to be a summer thunderstorm as the weather finally breaks, hopefully around 2pm on Sunday ;)

Trolling time: if Max hadn't muscled through Kimi in the second fast left hander in lap 1, would he still have won or would it have been Kimi? Discuss.

I am convinced that Kimi would've won it if it weren't for that particular move. I'll go as far as saying that Max wouldn't have gone balls out for it if it weren't for all the orange down at these turns in particular. Nobody in their sane mind ever sticks a nose there.

If you watch from onboard, he only does that because Kimi gets a bit of oversteer and opens the door for him

So would kimi have made a mistake elsewhere? Probably
