Well, aren't they getting him sidelined in mid-season in favor of LeClerc?

Wonder how the media turns this over.

Anyone catch that stretcher being wheeled down pit lane quickly?

Something happened? :?

Well that was rather sweet seeing Toto sulking away after the double Merc retirement after his over the top celebration on lap 1. As well as seeing Hamilton pouting away to the team on the radio...classic Lewis. Congrats to Max and Red Bull, very well managed mature drive.

Well, after all, Hamilton found an opponent to match; Mercedes... The championship will balance a bit. And "The Pirelli Red Team" almost came in 1st and 2nd !!! Lost the race only for Verstappen!!! Congratulations Max!!!

The race was really good and had a lot of drama. You could never know who had the pace and the tyres, everything could happen at any given lap. 8/10 in my book

This is why crashes and retirements of top teams are a good thing for F1. I had forgotten how much it added to the spice of a race (even back in the "boring" times of F1) by sucking lesser teams/drivers up and opening up the battles.

Can't disagree with the logic behind it, but on the other hand, a team's job is not to compensate for one of their driver's on-track mistakes (crashes/penalties) at the expense of the other driver who does less mistakes (if any), as long as constructor-wise they're in the same position. Wait, we're talking about Ferrari? Nevermind :p

Decent race, some tyre problems and 2 stops for some and it gets a whole lot interesting. Hopefully a wake up call for Pirelli, make worse tyres!

I don't know what the air temp was in Austria for the race but we've been having a heat wave here for the last week and it'll continue for another two or so weeks, usually at this time of year it's around 20-23 degrees, but it's 30-32 now, if they made the Silverstone tyre choice based on historical weather data for this date, we can only hope of a repeat this weekend too of the blistering tyres.

Air temp in Austria wasn't that bad, in the low to mid-twenties according to commentators. In any case, the problem really stems from the fact that free practice all took place on a colder track, so the teams had virtually no data on long runs on a hot track. Add to it how close the field was, so everyone just started pushing like mad. On a regular week-end they'd probably adjust the settings and the driving style to make the tyres last.

The fast and abrasive Silverstone would be a blowout-fest in the same conditions. Obviously, most teams would opt for a safety stop, but you know there will be someone making the bet to stay ahead. Exciting stuff
