Great win - wasn't the walkover expected, but textbook nursing of a sick car.

Top 6 in qualifying is top 6 in race.

As much as I like Ricciardo, if there is one circuit where it is very easy to keep the lead with a sick car, it is Monaco.

Monaco, the only race if you're not sure if they're on VSC or actually racing

About 3 overtakes this race (all max), pretty damn good for monaco

Not enough, obviously, but just enough going on to prevent it being a complete snoozer.

Glad FIA didn't even investigate Max's pass at the chicane on the Renault, great move and he committed to the chicane, losing a lot of time compared to if he just cut it.

Also imagine the drama-rama from Red bull if renault had caused them to lose this race.
The PR ramifications wouldn't have stopped all season, so I was rooting for them to make it as much as I was for Danny too

Aside from that, not much to talk about.
2 crashes all weekend is pretty sparse, the teams dodged a massive bullet this weekend

Fuel, tyre and car saving race. Great pace through the weekend for Redbull, could be an easy 1-2 if not for the FP3 mistake. And such a deserved win for Danny.

What I find most interesting is, if max was in qualifying, he would've been right in the battle for pole

Imagine he got 2nd for a moment and was right behind danny when his problem started....

I can easily imagine red bull letting him through to let him escape while danny ran behind holding everyone back

Max may well have cost himself a win this weekend :8:

(though maybe when they realised his problem wasn't terminal, they might have swapped them back at the end who knows)

Max is faster than Ricciardo very often, much more than the opposite. But he is too inconsistent.

Therefore, this is the second clear chance he had to win a race this year and the second time he throws it away by his own mistakes.

It's pretty easy to be fast if you don't care about bringing the car home.

Wow after all the problems that Dan had with his car, loosing the MGUH which meant he only had 6 gears, caused break temperature to go through the roof, loosing about 25% of his power, having to set break bias forward to pretty crazy numbers, with Nico Rosberg reckoning it was close to 2 seconds a lap he was loosing...that win was pretty epic.

Yes, yes, yes it was Monaco and passing is pretty hard but never the less, this wasn't just simply managing tyres or fuel loads. This was brining a car home for 3/4 of the race that would otherwise have been retired.

He could have gone 5 seconds per lap slower and still manage to win.

I think the biggest (and fairest) criticism of Max is that Danny is often faster than him. I think Ricciardo has had a really rough deal of having the 'next Senna' landed next to him and people somehow failing to see that he generally has him covered most of the time.
