This.

I don't understand how a 4 time WC can be dumb enough to jump on the first opportunity to pass when he missed his restart.

Vettel lost the race by himself, not because the SC mess.

Well that was... Interesting. Gutted for Bottas, who drove a great race.

on other hand, the secret to good races is having them under cold weather, look at the scramble made by poorly heated tires

that's what F1 looks like without tire blankets

What a damn shame for Seb and Bottas. They should've been on that podium spraying the champagne. Oh well that's motor racing for you. I think Vettel had the move lined up just fine, it wasn't late or overly ambitious as Bottas was extremely cautious into T1 but that SC stayed out way too long and the tires were cold as hell.

It's funny how people forget about the 30 laps or more of nothing happening but pit strategy just because they have things to argue about from a 5 lap shootout

That was the closest F1 gets to a NASCAR plate race, initial drama at the green, then lots of riding around and pitstops with nothing else happening, then a batshit insane finish

Doesn't mean that the championship has suddenly changed from being locked on for ferrari, it's car was better on both sets of tyres and was equal in a straight line to Mercedes.
Exactly in what area is Mercedes superior enough to take the fight to ferrari?
They don't react well to dirty air, or low temps, or soft tyre life or straightline speed or downforce or seemingly anything else

Mercedes got lucky, but hell, Williams got lucky in 2002 too....

I never underestimate last years' champions because they can still dominate like Red Bull in 2012 and 2013. Right when you think they're dead, they come back like zombies to haunt the world championship

I really hope Mercedes don't pull one of those and end winning the last 10 races of the season in a borefest

Sometimes you get lucky but an insane end doesn't make it anything but a bad race.

Merc's chance rests on Vettel losing his head and stopping Hamilton from losing his.

Perez' podium is in doubt for faulty use of DRS, according to https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/pere ... e-1031730/

Whoah, what a race! Even the halo couldn't ruin the experience. :D

But then again, there's few questions that needs to be asked about halo:

- Did Gasly/Hartley near miss happen because of it?
- Did Hulkenberg not see Sirotkin/Alonso because of it?
- Did Bottas' not see the debris because of it?
- Did Grosjean feel himself too confident so that he went over his skills and didn't see that there wasn't any Saubers near to him because of it?

This was the first track in calendar with blind corners and proper elevation changes. Maybe coincidental, but maybe not. This will never surface from the drivers or the FIA, but I sure hope these all are because of the halo, so we could see it being removed within few years. Hopefully without serious accidents. That Gasly/Hartley incident could have been very serious, even bigger than Alonso/Gutierrez accident in Melbourne and because of the wall angles and smaller runoff without gravel Gasly could have hit few walls in very high speed and in very bad angle, even head on at the end. Again IndyCar looks smart for not knee jerking with it and actually spending some time thinking about the downsides of it. Their solution already looks superior because it's high tech and there's no loss of visibility for the driver or even questions about it. Can't say the same about the halo, which on F2 car looks even more horrific with bolt-on parts. Maybe it's not in use for GP3 and only boltted on for new F2 because FIA has backdoor open for ditching it in case it turns out to be bad solution? Remember that because of Ferrari alone it was implemented for this season in the first place. Maybe FIA isn't so much in love with it after all?

As with all other races this year, this was also decided by the "imponderable", by luck or unluck drivers. Some stupid fails like Seb today, a broke gearbox, VSC, SC, well, races... None of the races had the winner who really deserved the victory. It's strange but it's fair, the championship is balanced, but it's a "by chances" championship.

Sorry for tryin to be funny about Grosjean. That would have happened exactly the same way even without the halo. :p

Mann what to say about RBR crash, Daniel wanted to do his left-right trick wich work everytime but not with Max cuz he will close the door again, i cant say who to blame. RIC wanted first to go right, Max to the right. Then RIC switched to inside and Max closed the door but it was too late, even if Max stayed on the right there was no way RIC would have made the corner cuz he had so much speed and couldnt stop the car, he would have gont to the escape road.

But it looks like i jnxed Bottas, i said to my wife, look debris i hope he wont drive over it and hand Lewis the win, and BANG there you go, little sparks flew when he ran over and the next thing was seeing him on 3 wheels... what a twist

Am I missing something here? I keep reading that Max's move was legal? I thought you had one move and then you stick to your side, has that changed? Max clearly tried to cover Ricciardos dummy by moving first to the right, then went back to the left when Ricciardo tried to take the inside gap.
