Shanghai International Circuit

f1.com wrote:
The Shanghai International Circuit was designed as the race circuit for the new millennium. And the modern track, with its stunning architecture, has achieved its goal of becoming China's gateway to the world of Formula One racing since it debuted on the calendar in 2004.

Circuit architects Hermann Tilke and Peter Wahl on their creation: “The 5.4 kilometre racing track is shaped like the Chinese character 'shang', which stands for 'high' or 'above'.

Other symbols represented in the architecture originate from Chinese history, such as the team buildings arranged like pavilions in a lake to resemble the ancient Yuyan-Garden in Shanghai. Here, nature and technology are carefully used to create harmony between the elements.”

Not only is the course remarkable for its change of acceleration and deceleration within different winding turns, making high demands on the driver as well as the car, but also for its high-speed straights. These offer crucial overtaking opportunities and give an intense and exciting motorsport experience to the spectators. The main grandstand with 29,000 seats provides a spectacular view of almost 80 percent of the circuit.

Why is the track map of the original proposal instead of the actual circuit that was built?

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

This race has been a disappointment in the last years, I don't expect anything different this time.

I'm looking forward to see how that STR Honda goes in this track, with that long-ass back straight.

Vandoorne stops on track in FP2, yet another wheel that isn't attached properly.

Next race: back to 5-nut wheels and manual torque wrench for everybody.

Better hope their second energy storing system is 900% more reliable than the first

Ricciardo, due to his failure last week, is now onto his 2nd energy storing system. He can only use two for the year, so his energy storing system has to survive 18 races to avoid a penalty. Great.

And now he's had an engine failure in FP3, I wonder if he'll be knocking on doors at Mercedes and Ferrari, then again this will also make Red Bull look even more closely at Honda which if they keep up the goods at Toro Rosso could be a serious option for them, but would Daniel want to stick around for that?

With the failure in the FP3, Ricciardo might not qualify. Red Bull is racing against time to repair the car.

Raikkonen was actually pretty unlucky there; Vettel pulled out an amazing final lap.

Great qualy fight. At least for a moment. When the Mercs looked to beat the Ferraris, at the end of Q2 and at the start of their Q3 laps.

But great all around, Hulkenberg showing that Sainz won't be just walking around the park.

well no one crashed during qualify and is pretty likely that nobody will crash during the race so there'll be even less comments

btw I tried to tune on BBC radio 5 to escape from the brazilian broadcasters but is geo blocked even on radio. that's not fair

Because you don't pay the licence fee. That's fair :p
