The four tyres.

You only need two tyres to race an engine efficiently around a racetrack, the two others are redundant.

Standardization of core aspects... i.e. single type of engine configuration, single tyre supplier, etc...

The concept of increased component lifespan in the name of cost reduction.

Exactly. I should've said "the lack of...", because in F1, nothing will ever top those two moments. It has been just a stream of disappointments, since those incidents.

Great point. A lot of the DNA of the current day issues with F1 can be traced back to these rules.

Full faced helmets - F1 fans won't tolerate anything that obscures visibility of the driver
Seatbelts - Anything that slows a driver's exit from their car is just asking for fatalities
The FIA not using any of the great ideas we have at TBK

Ugly boring Mercedes farting sounding dominating a slowly boring crawling 3 straight seasons. F1 died a lot when 2014 started, and even more the following years of that facepalm torturous tragedy of an era.

Also, Oh wait, new car paintings!!!! - black, grey, white and grey, grey and black.


Over-complicated wheels and engineers that have more power than drivers.


Safety-car rain parades. At least now standing starts always.

Road-courses full of run-off areas. Oh, so much hipe for Valencia and Abu-dhabi on paper. Oh, so much disappointment. At least we have Baku and Singapore now.
