What a showdown that was, Hollywood couldn't have written a better script. I love watching the last few laps of this GP every now and then when it pops up somewhere. All the drama, emotions and passion, bravery and nobility of F1 combined in the matter of a few minutes.

I was there. people freaked out when they saw Massa winning. I thought the points weren't enough so I thought they were celebrating his race victory

then it all turn into deception haha my expectations were low so I wasn't that frustrated

The engine failure, where was it... Hungary? That cost Massa the title since he was leading when the lump in the back packed up.

The Piquet-Glock story is one of Massa's greatest excuses for his lack of performance.

In reality, Massa lost to himself, how many opportunities he did miss in 2008? If you analyze that season carefully, you'll see Massa lost to himself. I don't buy this story of "poor Massa, wronged by the misfortunes of life or the evil of others".

I am one of those who believe that it's a true miracle that Massa has remained so many years in Formula 1 with such poor performances. Beyond that, there are thousands of fans in Brazil who even question his stay at Williams in 2017, claiming that "behind-the-scenes" maneuvers were taken involving brazilian sponsors, Globo TV and Williams Team in order to keep Massa there once he should be already retired by the end of 2016.

There are allegations that several F1 Masters sponsors on Brazilian television were surprised by Massa's retirement in 2016 (a year before the time they believed Massa would retire, what caused many contract troubles for Globo TV. Globo then prompted to seek deals directly with Williams Team to save the year of 2017 and avoid heavy fines.

Globo TV almost went bankrupt in the years of 2015, 2016 and 2017, actually that's one of the reasons (among millions of others) that has led Globo TV to dive into the visceral campaign in favor of Brazil's coup d'état in 2016 because If they didn't shift government, they were running the risk of losing the federal public concession authorized by the President of the Republic (in this case Dilma Rousseff who were already theatening Globo with the end of its public concession).

Why am I mentioning this? Globo TV has such political power in South-America that they do whatever they want to defend their commercial interests, including a system of "tip payments" to Williams, so they may keep their goals intact.

that and wasted points opportunities in Malaysia (spun off with no apparent mechanical issue) and Silverstone (hideous performance in wet)

Australia - crashed at T1
Malaysia - spun off while 2nd
Silverstone - engine mapping issues caused many spins
Germany - lacklustre

Yet there was good fortune...

France - handed win following Kimi's exhaust
Belgium - distant 3rd heading into final lap, comes out as winner
Japan - bumps Hamilton out of the way, causes Bourdais to receive penalty
China - sub-par performance and handed 2nd place by Raikkonen

Now lets have a look at that Lap from Glock's perspective

Obviously he was faking all that sliding around just to make it look real right? :whistling:

(He actually gained a place by not changing tyres, so it was definitely the right call from Toyota's point of view.
If he had changed tyres with everyone else, the finish to that race would've been a lot more boring as Lewis would have always had the points he needed due to not being vaulted by Timo when he pitted)

Best part of the first highlights video is James trying to sincerely say "your favourite Abu Dhabi Grand Prix".

And all year long, like 70% of the races:

Ferrari fucking up the strategy or pit-stop execution. Like not changing the tyres at Monaco after having an easy lead after a very nice drive in the wet.

2012 wasn't too bad. Every other race has been garbage.

I️ remember Ferrari not changing Kimi’s tyres at Silverstone however it was drying at the time, then the rain fell mere minutes later. I️ don’t remember strategic fuck ups, let alone at Monaco. There Massa missed out on a win thanks to SCs. The Ferrari fuck ups in 2008 were thanks to the overhead lighting system used during the pit stops. But while it caused issues Massa also benefitted from not receiving an unsafe release penalty in Valencia, which he really should have.
