Non-championship race at Brands Hatch without alterations. 1984 sporting rule book is used during the weekend. All team personnel must wear vintage clothes.

I was interested to read that - in Charlie's opinion, a few years back - Rockingham would be the best candidate, as it would require the fewest changes to get a Grade 1 licence. Shame the road course is terrible.

Use the oval, then!

what about Snetterton? sure the pits would have to be modified and tarmac runoffs added, but since they changed the character of the circuit some years wouldn't it be a good option for F1?

If there is no race at Silverstone, then there will be no British GP. You think Liberty Media will take F1 to Snetterton or even Rockingham? Apart from motorsports enthusiasts like us (particularly British national racing enthusiasts) those places aren't known/exotic and would be akin to tennis going from playing at Wimbledon to the local park. Its Silverstone or bust.

Reading the article I agree this could be the idea behind it. A big gamble but one that could pay out.

I love this idea. After a few laps it will look like a Nascar short-track race with cars all over the place.

Has a modern F1 car ever been through Paddock Hill bend in racing conditions? I feel that with today's cars it would be terrifying. Or the last sweeper? They'd exit that at 300kph. The more I think about it the more I like it.

Its F1 so there would be at minimum a 150 meter tarmac run off area. And could you imagine them not giving a shit about track limits at Paddock Hill bend and then bitch and moan about the corner? Oh man that would be laughable.

In all seriousness if they didn't butcher the track Brands would be the only other place I could see a British GP going ahead if Silverstone pull the pin.

So, Vettel DQed after all, maybe.

That means Marcus Ericsson scores his first point of the season and first since 2015.

No surprise, and I think it's okay. Otherwise, probably something like Grosjean or Maldonado would have been banned probably. It's still a commercial sport after all.

The incident has had no effect on FIA's image, if that's their main concern. It's Jean Todt that has single-handedly ruined the whole institution.

so he's gonna appear in a PIF saying "so kids, don't ram your Ferraris into Mercedes, even if they're running too slow"

Sorry but what? While I'm no fan of Todt's tenure as head of FIA, I don't see the connection between this investigation and the FIA's image.

Let's remember that when Schumi was dsq from the 1997 Championship his actual punishment was being an advocate / public figure of endorsement for the FIA's road safety campaign... aka Community Service.
