I feel stupid, I voted Alonso/Hamilton in Mexico because I have a crap memory and couldn't be bothered to look up the ones I didn't remember (Spain, Russia, America)

Alonso/Hamilton in Mexico for me was more then just the pass. It was intertwined with so much other stuff that I voted for this move.

So Jorda gets some role representing women in motorsport. Wow that is pathetic.

No issue for Martini as Rowland is 25.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

They basically could have chosen any other woman in motorsport and gotten it closer to the mark than this.

"Oh, Jorda is on record as saying women aren't good enough to compete with men and should have their own novelty series. She's the one to speak up for women in motorsport!" :slaphead: :slaphead: :slaphead:

However, is she wrong with that statement? I get that she's a bad figurine for spearheading this campaign, but at least she is realistic about it. I think a women specific series would be intriguing. Just like in cycling, soccer and what-not.

It’s been done before, with Formula Woman in the early-mid 2000s. It was cringeworthy marketing stunt that didn’t last long. At least Mazda was able sell a few more RX-8s because of it.

Yeah but I think times have changed. Women's sports are hugely booming. With the right social media attitude that could be a huge success.

There are, at the most, 6 women in motorsport that could handle the power and grip of something like an F2 car with competence.

Wolff's current endeavour has a much greater chance of being successful over time. This is a gimmick that will be lucky to last half a season. It will be fun to watch, and I am sure it will be big on social media, but not for anything to do with the quality of the racing.

they could make like a support race for F1, use some Dallara F3 and so but I don't think that will have any interest plus costs could keep drivers away

So you want woman to be a sideshow to F1. How is that different to how they’re treated currently as grid girls and ornaments that applaud the drivers heading to the podium?

Find 20 capable women, add to that Ford Fiesta's and the F1 grid, give them 15 minutes qualifying then throw them all into a race after F1 qualifying, no practice, no testing, then we'll see who's best.

F3 is out of the question, even ignoring the cost, those cars favor men, they're cramped at the best of times and tit's get in the way, especially big ones (not my saying, attribute that to VBH), to do it properly, it has to be level playing field, tin tops afford women the room they need far more than any single seater can.

Now that I'd watch, tbh I'd even consider a Sky sub if it meant the likes of Lucy Rogers, Claire Redgrave or Vicky would give Lewis a good run for his money.

This is pretty much the opinion of many (most, probably) of the women actively involved in motorsport. Pippa Mann wrote about this some time ago, but it's still very relevant: http://www.pippamann.com/2017/06/19/the ... ng-series/

Well, the other alternative is that women in motorsport don't get any exposure because they usually aren't good enough. So that's status quo. In my opinion a separate series is an improvement, but I see that hardcore feminists prefer nothing from one cake instead of maybe quite a brilliant piece of another cake.

I'd love to see women racing and I'd love to have women in F1.

Edit:
The double standards... Pippa Mann wants women to race in a field of men, be included and not have them stand out as being women. Yet she lists on her homepage bio that she clocked the fastest lap in Indy as a woman. So she's separating herself again right there. Well done.

*Facepalm*

That's not double standards, that's an achievement. Like Fastest rookie or fastest Brit.

How is that an achievement linked to something other than her sex (which she so eloquently advocated against)?

I'm perfectly fine with her calling herself the fastest woman, well done to her! I just find it very amusing that she tries to get rid of being measured separately because she's a woman, then goes on to do it herself when it suits her.

So maybe measuring women differently from men in motorsports isn't something entirely bad, Pippa?

That's what they do in most winter and athletics sports isn't it?
