Pretty much.

Although they can argue that you should give the position back to escape a penalty, or slow down and get back in line behind.

Does that Kerb and white line really NEED to be there anyway?
What exactly is wrong with having the track extend all the way to the wall?

Always thought that was a stupid design tbh

Indeed  Which will also earn you a penalty.

So the message from the stewards is...

...you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Nah, then you can prove they didn't give you room and they get the penalty instead.

Well, another ridicilous penalty. This time for Webber (again Red Bull).

He had no choice then to go over the kerbs, because he was forced by Kobayashi. He even didn't left the kerbs with 4 wheels! They should really stop to give this bullshit penalties. And they have to be fair for everyone at every race. At Monza e.g., every driver moves over the white line at the end of Variante Ascari, and then it is no problem?

Not to be the devil's advocate, but the corner would be too fast and not an overtaking opportunity anymore.

Now what they could do is keep the design and just bring the wall to the kerb. Don't know if they can just plant walls mid-avenue though.

That red and white section is not a curb, rather just a painted section of track. If they don't want drivers to go over that section I suggest they make it a proper curb.

I don't know, it seems like the corner is already quite tight and removing the kerb and white line from there wouldn't change the speed of the corner, just give the drivers slightly more room to track out on exit and maybe, like Webber, make a pass if they're brave enough.

Ho hum, it's a shit track either way.

Either option we all agree that it shouldn't define whether ballsy moves are valid or not. Let'em race

If we "let them race" we get situations like at Spa where drivers nearly get killed.

Nico Rosberg finished 5th. No-one noticed, no-one cares. It just goes to show my theory about him being good, but such a boring racing driver.

Without failures in front of him or the SC, it would have been 8th. So what is good about it?

He finished while others didn't

Is it a good result? He's twice done better at this track in the craptacular Toyota-era Williams.

If Hamilton and Maldonado didn't crashed and Vettel and Grosjean didn't retire, Schumi wouldn't have a podium.

I don't understand your point, because I always said Schumacher isn't a good driver anymore.
I'm pretty sure a driver like Hamilton will make the Mercedes 0,5s-1,0s quicker then Rosberg and Schumacher do.

Since the FIA has looked at the telemetry and discovered what we already knew - that Vettel was braking for a corner - does that not put the blame onto Jenson now? Surely the safety car rules are that everybody keeps a steady pace. Although there was not an accident, they were ready to hand out a penalty to Vettel for not holding pace. Now it turns out he did hold pace...which means Jenson didn't. So do the SC rules only apply to leader?

Even though Vettel wasn't penalised, if I were Red Bull I'd be a bit worried about the penalties of recent times. Webbers today was especially harsh.

He was beaten by a Force India. I don't really see it as that good.

Schumacher's penalty was that he frigging totalled a racecar and threw away a good result.

That was the penalty for such dumbassery since the dawn of racing, why do we need all this bullshit grid penalties for what are racing mishaps with no intentional harmdoing? It's becoming more and more irritating that nobody is protesting against it anymore and has become a widely accepted way of doing within the sport's fanbase and also professional community.

I wonder what the penalties would've been like if the local Singaporean authorities were allowed to penalize. Three race ban and a good spanking for Schumacher?

I bet Schumacher will qualify in top 5 at Suzuka only to have it ruined by this dumb penalty.

Also penalties for engine changes and gearbox changes are completely stupid.

I am really confused as to the justification of these rulings. Monza, Vettel squeezes Alonso who is attempting a pass on the outside off the track, Vettel Penalty. Here Koba queezes Webber who is attempting a pass on the outside off the track, Webber Penalty. So because Webber gained an advantage from being pushed off the track, he gets a penalty? I would have thought letting that one go would have been the better decision since Koba broke a (retarded) rule himself. I dunno, the more they try to clarify and tighten the rules the harder they make it for themselves and consistency then slips it seems.
