So decided to go up and say hi and chatted with him for a bit. He was super friendly and even agreed to take a few photos. His first comment to me though was "Hey you're wearing the wrong jacket!". Said he had just come from the factory and was taking a flight back to Sao Paolo. Thanked him for his time and wished him well for next season and a return to the top step of the podium.

not that it is not cool, but in my opinion you should have left the guy alone. My personal belief is that if you see a celebrity on the job, it is ok to bother him or her but if he is just going out to enjoy himself or have a meal at a restaurant or is travelling like every normal being with a normal life, just let them be. Ofcourse he was unassuming, ofcourse he was eating, and maybe he was happy that for once no one noticed him.

I see no problem getting up and saying hi. If Felipe then doesn't want to procede into more contact than answering that hi, then it is really easy to do so without seeming unfriendly or arrogant.

He choose to become a celebrity by continuing racing and racing in F1. Just like actors and musicians.

If it was a son/daughter of... who tries to lead a normal life I'd agree.
For royalty I also somewhat agree as they are born into that life without any choice. Even by taking distance from their heritage they still remain royalty or family of royalty.

But in this case, he choose a life that makes him a celebrity and it's not like Karan was being a dick or whatever so Massa should suck it up.

I disagree a full 100%.

He didn't choose to be a celebrity, he is just a sportsman in a branch that is popular enough to be on TV. On Sunday he is doing his job and gets a lot of money for that, in the week he has lots of useless PR stuff where he needs to show his face, and in between that he is a normal man who needs to eat once in a while without being bothered. Many celebrities don't choose to be one, and some celebrities don't deserve to be one but do everything they can to be. These choose to be, but that is a different story. But it is not because your face is on TV, it gives other people the right to randomly come up and say hello and demand some of your time.

That said, this is by no means a personal attack on Karan, I wasn't there to see if Karan was a dick and certainly also not to see the reaction of Massa. Maybe he liked it, maybe he didn't. But saying that Massa should suck it up is the most wrong that you can say.

On the same subject, death to all paparazzi, lifelong tortures to publishers of gossip magazines who pay those paparazzi, and horrible diseases to those who buy these magazines, thinking that they have the right to do with celebs what they want, just because they are celebs.

You are totally reading stuff into it. He's famous, and if someone approaches him respectfully, as I'm sure Karan did, then I'm sure it's nice for Felipe too. I make films and people in the region I live in know me, and sometimes someone comes up to me and talks to me, and that's a wonderful feeling of appreciation. I'm not saying that pestering someone for an autograph while he's having a conversation with someone is okay, but respectfully asking is totally fine, since it also makes Felipe's day.

Talking to Felipe Massa is a lot like making love to a beautiful woman ... hang on.

Going up to Felipe and talking to him while he's eating is frankly no different to going up and talking to a girl you like in a restaurant or bar. In both cases you're asking a then stranger for their time and attention and maybe they don't want to give it to you. Famous people get it more than regular people, the same as I guess a pretty girl gets it more than someone less people find attractive.

(I'm not necessarily defending all chatting up/hitting on women, just an analogy with an everyday situation that's generally accepted behaviour. And I need to do something to justify this Swiss Toni avatar.)

Fair points and trust me I'm always conscious about not bothering someone if they're hesitant or in the middle of something, whether they're a celebrity or a 'regular' individual. I held back a little for this reason before approaching him and then was pleasantly surprised how open and willing he was to chat, come over and take a photo with me & my Mom. If he had declined or shown even the slightest bit of irritation I would've of course backed off immediately but I think he sensed I was a fan that was genuinely excited to meet him in person. The guy definitely gets a lot of points in my book for being so friendly, patient & easy going.

he is a very calm man, if he didn't wanted he could say no or "sorry, I'm kinda busy"

most of this stance comes from when he was a kid and asked an autograph for Ayrton Senna and he denied

if I was meeting a random driver I would only nod my head and say hello, too ashamed to get closer :p

Damn, Felipe's brazilian, he doesnt give a damn for that. He likes talking, chatting and so on....I don't know him personally but I bet he didn't mind at all.

I don't like him as a racing driver but as a person he's really nice and humble. I've had a similar experience to Emerson Fittipaldi and Emmo is absolutely humble, he didn't mind taking pictures and chatting with me.

They suggested it may be a business decision on the radio.
Mags backers had been expected to help ron take financial control of the team. They theorise something may have changed.
Just speculation at the moment

Bernie says he will not ask teams to bring a 3rd car. But maybe they are not forbidden to?
