Alan Jones on our telecast reckons Pastor was silly to put his car there with a rookie. Agree with him somewhat.

There's plenty of time. They can have 2 hours of red flag before it starts eating into the race time.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

It's not a passing place, for sure, but you have the right to put your car where you want (without impeding others) and expect not to get driven into.

Surely can't it be attached to the Armco?

I think the working theory is it dissipates more energy by not being fixed to something.

On the race track? On the racing line?

Can't agree with Alan there. Chilton had already cut the chicane and MUST have known the Williams was still somewhere close to him. 100% not Maldonado's fault. Chilton was a complete idiot for that.

but before Chilton moves over on the exit of the chicane, as if to say, pass me on the right.

Ah... yeah! It's 4 hours from the start onwards. 2 hours only for the race itself.

And... watching it in slo-mo, clearly Chilton's fault.

Totally Chilton's fault - had to expect and know that Maldonado was there, and moved across carelessly ...

Part of Alan's point was that Maldonado wouldn't have achieved anything from the outside, he would have been better trying to get to the inside as that's really the only way to overtake there. But I agree the crash was Chilton's fault, Maldonado was entitled to put his car there even if he was unlikely to overtake from there.
