It's not about "the same for everybody".

It's about how competitive is a driver with cold new tyres, compared to a driver with hot worn tyres. Usually at the end of the stint, the tyres are not useless. That's why it'd be difficult to perform an undercut.

dunno why don't they skip specs like when tires were key, like bring C1 and C2 but not C3, try C4 instead

and make them use C4 at some point of the race to make it difficult

But the guy staying out on hot want tyres will eventually have to pit, then do a few laps on cold tyres, thus the undercut will still be in effect, and will be determined by how well each respective driver does in their “cold” tyre stint, the only potential difference is, like in Indycar, the guy who pitted last will often get overtaken by the guy who pitted first after the stops if he isn’t as good on the cold tyres, instead of the guy doing the undercut doing the overtaking in the pit lane,

Yeah banning tyre warmers doesn't really change much, strategy wise, it just extends the window for a pass from just the end of the pit lane to about halfway around the lap instead

There'll definitely be a few crashes early on as the driver on cold tyres tries a wild move to defend from someone coming in hot with warmed up tyres, or just flat out crashes themselves from trying to hard that they'll blame solely on the banning of tyre warmers, but meh, the giant aircraft style accidents from the disparity between cold/hot tyres doesn't happen in Indycar, DTM or whatever other series runs tyre changes but doesn't have Tyre warmers, so they'll just be individual incidents the driver or team will try and deflect into being a bigger safety concern *shrug*

After a season, no-one will be questioning it, it'll just be the way it is...

A bit like the refueling ban, only really a small percent of older fans who were watching back then want it back (because they prefer strategy over overtaking? I dunno, can't work it out) and a couple of new fans who assume because refueling was in the past, it had to be better than we have now, but largely after 2010 and especially 2011/2012 were such good seasons without it, no-one cares about it any more

The same will happen with Tyre Warmers, if they have the courage to stay the course...

And after 5 races teams will work it all out and these points will be mute.

They should drop the need to make at least one pitstop. If you want to continue on worn but warm tyres, go ahead.

Also, if going out on cold tyres is such a disadvantage and dangerous, all cars will opt for the same one stop strategy.

I was thinking about this a while back.
How about this idea? If you stop, you must use at least 2 different compounds. So, the mandatory rule to use 2 different compounds only goes when you actually stop. If you think you can make it without stopping? Go ahead.

Its the same group that also owns Wrexham AFC. Wonder if they'll link up the 2 to promote both.

I guess they kept that just to make the team responsible for a driver losing the race (actually a Ferrari driver losing the race)

leaving the teams free to choose could help some drivers in some way, guys that usually stay for longer and extend tire life could take advantage, but most teams will keep stopping for fresh rubber

Good to see someone new or a new group investing in F1.

Investing a non-controlling share in a team is completely different to starting an 11th team from scratch.

I had a feeling I knew of/about one of those guys, but could never quite put my finger on it. Have either of them ever been members here on tbk? Cracking podcast indeed. It's got that quintessential Aussie vibe. You know, where it sounds like they're both talking through constant Ricciardo-esque grins :D

Rob designed the logo for TBK that's in the top left hand corner of the page, he was a member briefly way back in the early days.

If they refer to "a drunk F1 supporter I know" on the show, it's usually me. I co-hosted a few shows way back in the early days.

I think you got a shout out on the Austrian GP preview episode. They added "bogan" to the description of said mutual friend lol.

Andretti could at least take a share in a team to first dip a toe and check if they can go their own way once they get used to them around

not a good impression if he does like he did when he drove for McLaren

Marko has said that AT will change their name again next year. Did not say to what.
