Everyone looks and sounds really emotional, like they know something we don't. I hope I'm wrong, I really do. But we shouldn't speculate.

Yes, that's right, they can't even hold track activity if the helicopter is there but can't take off (fog etc.).

Yeah, this is a bit weird. One of the journos actually tweeted a picture of it taking off 8O

I saw the helicopter flying on live TV too.

Maybe it was just impossible to travel to nearest hospital because of worse weather along the way?

This is really weird - the FIA say he's in an ambulance because the helicopter couldn't take off, some media outlets say he's been airlifted and others say there was no chopper at all.... :/

Perhaps they took off, realised the weather was just too bad, and had to land again? In a different spot, closer to the exit?

Actually, the car isn't that destroyed.

Now post a picture of the side that hit the tractor.*

*Obviously I don't actually want you to, but there's only side of the car that took a hit.

Hate to say it, but the car doesn't need to be damaged if it is a carbon copy of the De Villota accident...

There was something unsettling from the moment they panned to the accident scene for the second time and the marshals were gesturing. I was surprised they hadn't put the SC out at the time - it seemed logical given that the rain was getting heavier. It's odd that they'd hold the safety car out for so long at the start (an entirely sensible decision judging by the amount of spray) and not bring it out at the end when conditions were even worse

I fear the worst. Nothing new in that but I can't remember such grave faces and such obvious avoidance of the subject - only by looking at old footage have I seen reactions like that. No replays is always a bad sign. What also concerns me is Suzuka's a long way from anywhere

I hope Bianchi is not seriously injured... that kind of crash is one of the worst.

That doesn't look like he hit the tractor directly.

RTL also confirms there was no helicopter airlift.

Finnish TV has said that Bianchi has been taken to hospital by ambulance with police escort, speculated that must have been better decision. Helicopter was at track and capable of flying. This could be better decision based on injuries, which we don't know. :/

Was Sutil being interviewed already?

The look on Jakes face as they moved back from the Marussia garage suggested to me the car was being returned and it scared him. He looked worried and was signalling the camera to not turn around. The other side must be bad.
This is quite scary

Official statement from the FIA, fwiw:

FIA wrote:
Driver is not conscious, he has been sent to the hospital by ambulance because the helicopter cannot go in these conditions. Further updates will follow - for the moment we cannot say anything. We will keep you updated as fast as we can.

Then I don't like the sound of it at all. Let's all hope. :(
