That's not fair, I misjudged the location of Belle Isle :(

Spun there one time.

I think China 2005 was by far the worst race Michael had so far. In Hungary this year he also had quite a lot of bad luck.

Japan 1998??????

Rory Byrne is my second cousin, and I spoke to him after that race and it was a problem with the clutch that caused the stall on the grid. So what exactly was so bad about Japan 1998?

Japan 2003 tbh, dicked around the bottom of the points for most of the race, weaving causing his brother to spin, spun himself and just about claimed the point he needed to wrap up the title.
(Though IIRC it was a belt and braces moment as with Rubens out front Micheal could've retired and he still would've been champion)

Not one of his greatest races, no.

Don't worry about it too much, it was just an ignorant comment.

I thought Schumi's race in Japan 1998 was tremendous, having to fight from the very back after the clutch issue. His start was pretty epic as well.

Japan 2003 was a pretty horrible drive, especially given what was on the line and was pretty fortunate in some ways that Barrichello was on form that weekend. (I know, I know 8th was all he needed, but like Hamilton 5 years later, I didn't leave much room for error.

Yeah, and he kept getting in all kinds of trouble with Sato, then DaMatta/Ralf (and that heartbeat-skipping moment where we see Ralf spinning out in smoke from DaMatta's rearcam, thinking Michael crashed out as well, only to see him appearing again from the chicane runoff)
I remember Prost was co-commenting that race for french TV and he was amused/astonished at how Schumacher could put himself in such a situation for a title-winning race.

I love how every recent race thread turns into a M.Schumacher tribute

To be fair, good or bad, whatever Micheal does in his second career just reminds us of parts in his first career.

Take Spa:

If he dominates from the pole, that'll be sooooo 2002.
If he has an OK race and gets a podium, it'll be 2004
If its a wet race and he sneaks a surprise win, 1996
If he gets taken out and it's not his fault, then 1998/2005
If he drives defensively, 1995
Big crash? 1996....

And it goes on like this.

No matter what MS does, good or bad, it's all be done before and its not our fault we can see the symmetry

Still, Schuey at Spa does kind of make you think he'll do a LOT better than most tracks this season, he does love the place...

Unfortunatley Kimi will win, sorry. MSC might be on podium.... but thats also a big question.

Kimi is a prime contender for the win, yes. Schumi will finish 9th, plus or minus one position.

Actually I believe that the next two tracks should suit the Mercedes.

Schumi's DRS will fail in Q1 probably.

Hockenheim and Montreal were supposed to suit the Merc and yet that didn't work out right?

Whenever a team has a really shitty weekend, their race review/preview for the next event usually says "We'll bounce back from X race as Y track is one that should favour the strengths of our car" etc etc

As long as it doesn't fail in open position as it means instant huge trouble in most of Spa's corners.

Mercedes sucks balls and should be ashamed of their performance this season eventhough they won a race.

Don't worry, next year will be their year... :p

My personal feeling is they're milking Schumacher as a marketing tool rather than simply for driving ability. If they just had Nico and another, no-one would give two hoots about them. Only 26 points ahead of Sauber, lmao.

Why, are they hiring David Coulthard? :p

And you're right, hiring MS is probably a big marketing tool. They'd get a huge amount more sponsorship, merchandise and attention than if they'd hired Barrichello or someone.
(Assuming they also would like a side effect of an experienced driver so Nico could benefit from his experience while they're raking in the cash)
