Ahh the time of year is upon us where we all drool over fantast liveries before we get served up the underwhelming real life ones.

Enjoy this moment people !

That scheme doesn't suit modern car F1 cars. Still, I'd take that over most of what we've had the past 10-15 years though.

Nico Rosberg has a video called 'Nico Rosberg: Torture machine'

Have a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wqj53WbTUdw

I had a laugh at first, but good luck to him for this year. I wonder if other drivers use similar devices?

it's quite commen for racing drivers to work out their neck muscles using similar devices

I've got a question...

where can I find information on the fastest recorded speed by a F1 car in let's say 1973? There's a lot of information about laptimes, but I'd like to know what was the top speed back then. Or was that never recorded? Because in my trump collection, I have for example this:

https://www.facebook.com/15970528743223 ... 13/?type=1

I know that it is even not a 005 but 003, but anyway the 365 kph looks a little bit 'enthusiastic'

I remember seeing one top trump with random racing cars, such as the Viper GTS-R and the Corvette C5-R. But the one that took my attention was the Ganassi Reynard, with a 1000bhp and 400km/h as top speed. I was damn sure it was accurate

about 70's F1 cars, the DFV engined I guess it went at 320km/h, but the flat 12 and turbo engines were more powerful, could reach up to 350km/h

Those neck workout devices are in use for quite a while. I remember videos of Schumacher doing such exercises back in early 2000s...

, I quite doubt those top speeds were officially recorded back then. Wasn't the timing done manually(as rustic as possible)? If so, why would there be a speed radar as today, then?!

I would say the best way to know it would be by having magazines(and etc) of the time with, possibly, eventual drivers/engineers' quotes of their particular top speed somewhere sometime. As I know you have a big collection of such things and you still don't know it, I guess it's not possible to find out. Unless, you manage to chat with somebody(driver/engineer/journo) from back then, who might know it.

BTW, the Power figure of 470PS(463HP) allows me to quite confidently say that 365kmh is ridiculous. it would be possible for a closed/covered wheels car(much lower drag), with a suitably long gear ratio and in a very very long straight length.

That figure is the same kind of ridicule as this one, imo:
http://www.infinitiusa.com/f1/red-bull-racing-rb10
760HP and 235 MPH(378kmh) top speed  Even with draft in the race, Ricciardo peaked at 360kmh in Monza(only 345kmh on qualifying without draft)

GTP cars had about 700-800HP(I think some even more, up to 1000HP) in the late 80's and they were reaching almost 400kmh on Le Mans
http://www.mulsannescorner.com/maxspeed.htm

Then, if there is such data for Le Mans, maybe there is for F1 too. :p

Lotus' livery remains nice but that toboggan nose cone is so ugly....

once I saw an attempt for speed record in Brazil and they did it manually, back in 80's

the picked a stretch of a highway of 10km more or less and after the car reached some good speed they clocked a gap of about 3km and measured the average for that length

today is easier to do as you can set a gps in a race car for measurements

It's a beautiful car, whoever think it's ugly should rethink its beauty F1 patterns coz they may be a little messy.

I guess there's a new generation who got accustomed to so many ugly F1 cars, when you have a beautiful car again there may be some levels of strangeness.

It's a beautiful car, yes it is!

Regarding carshape, it resembles a lot Formula Renault 3.5
