Try the Ibis Budget Hotel at the border near Aachen. Stayed there in 2010. About 30-40 minutes to the track by car.

Don't expect much from the rooms, as the name suggest, it's not a hotel where you want to stay for weeks

Don't give a shit, as long as it's better than a tent  And as long as my car makes it!

Thanks for the advice; hopefully I can see a few of you guys!

£400 for 5 nights. Anyone want to join me? :p

The Ibis is where we're staying at actually. I just want a roof and a shower. The rest I can improvise and I'll be spending as less time as I can around there. :)

booked in March though and it cost about 350 EUR for 5 nights. Turned out well though as since flights to Brussels are crazy expensive from here we're just gonna go to Frankfurt.

The rooms are incredible small btw. But as you said, it's just a place to sleep so thats fine then ;)

My plans for the Belgian GP have been scrapped, important meeting on friday that weekend. No point in going then. And to be fair, F1 did annoy and bore me a lot over the last couple of months....

Focusing on a GP in 2014 now, really hope the New Jersey GP will take place. That would be one to visit.

Indeed. As long as I don't actually have to build the hotel each night...

I have camped - not at Spa - before but wouldn't want to again. A friend said at Silverstone people spent the whole night shouting 'Alan' or 'Jenson' (like that Fenton dog video).

I'm doing Monza as well but that's more sorted. I just don't want financial ruin

What's the traffic like after the race on Sunday? I was planning on leaving around 7pm to get to Calais by about 11.

Must say that the traffic is terrible. It looks like they let all the cars take the same oneway road to the highway, and then close the first entrenceway so you have to try and find the next one.

Also, try to get to the E25, do not take the E421 to get home.

And don't camp at the circuit, but drive about 10 km in any direction. You'll find lots of campings that are quiet and cheap. I personally go to Coo but the whole area is very touristic and offers lots of camping

Even by like 7pm? I'll be going back towards Liege/Bruxelles, whichever route that is.

I'll obviously have media stickers but I doubt that'll help :p Unless they wave media through a different way!

What's it like on Thursday? I'll be arriving around 1pm and I think via J10 of the autoroute as the accreditation centre is in Francorchamps. I'm waiting to hear whether I can keep my car in the media car park from Thurs to Sun as I'll be getting a lift in.

Only Sunday after the race is a nightmare, the other days are not a problem.

A couple of years ago I left my camping at 6 pm and still was in high traffic.

Okay thanks very much. I've booked Eurotunnel for 00:50 so I should be okay. Plan for Thursday is leave home at 4, Eurotunnel at 6.50, Spa around 12. Should be set for the afternoon interviews, probably drugged on Red Bull.

Who else is going; would be great to have a TBK meet-up.

Free Advise: avond Hotel La Forge in Malmedy like it's the black plague. Horrible experiences there from last year. At least we got to stay there but others were in front of a closed door... Idiots over there.

There are roadworks all around Francorchamps, so I fear the traffic will be absolutely horrible after the race. Several one-lane parts on the 3-lane roads.

Media probably parks at P1/2 (if it's still that way?), which means you just have to follow the same road everyone else does :p

I'm again not going this year, it's just not worth the hassle for me.

Apparently from the autoroute there's specific media lanes, so maybe it'll be fine :p

Surely they'll stop the roadworks for the weekend, I mean they can't be that retarded... er...

It's been that way for the past 6 months, so I wouldn't put your hopes on it. From Liege up to Francorchamps is retarded in terms of roadworks

Fun fun fun all the way then.

Hopefully I'll see some TBK guys around. Can't believe it's only 2.5 weeks away!

I'm staying in a German hotel too, so Thursday will be wake up in England, drive through France, work in Belgium, sleep in Germany.

Although, if they hurry up, they might be able to get it done in time...well, the roadworks on the highway in Verviers atleast.

But then again, it's Belgium so...

These roadworks have been there for almost 5 years, and I am not kidding. Don't hope that the works will be finished.

And don't blame it on Belgium, blame it on Wallonia.

(In the Flanders parts we only have roadworks for 2 weeks, where they use crap and cheap material so they have to do the same work every year.)

You're talking about the bridge at the Limburg-border, Omega? Because the ones we are talking about certainly have only been there for the past 6 months.

Also, honestly, it's equally as bad in every single part of our country.
