Or perhaps someone with an intimate knowledge of the cameras and their positions and knew exactly where the blackout areas were (no pun intended).

Or maybe that was your point originally, in which case I'm sorry for re-stating the obvious.

That's like giving a contractor a set of keys to your house, they "loose" them, then 3 weeks later wondering how your house got cleaned out.

Yes that really did happen to someone I know...

Anyone reflected on "you get into eighth gear before you get to seventh gear now" from the latest Jenson article?

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/111874

How many gears will they show up with?

Apparently they're gonna have eight gears now. My interpretation of that line is that eight gear is going to be pretty goddamn long (maybe related somehow with the fact gear ratios are now fixed for the season), or they're being forced to short-shift all the time for some reason (fuel saving? I've also read they're gonna have a ridiculous amount of wheel spinning, all the way up to 3rd or 4th gear but that shouldn't be a problem on 8th!).

Not 100% sure but for sure the individual gear ratios are fixed, but the final drive ratio could be changed (similar to NASCAR's gear rule)

He probably means the ratios, or final drive is shorter, so the speed point in 2013 where they hit 7th gear, in 2014 they'll have already selected 8th.

Seems a bit pointless adding a gear if you're just doing it to shorten the ratio's, all it does is makes the power curve window smaller.

They might actually have some wheelspin as high as 6th in some cases.

Yeah, that was what I was getting at....all this happened while they were installing the cameras right?
