every sort of gimmick has been introduced to revitalize the sport: artificially degrading tyres, DRS, Kers, safety cars when are not needed..... every time something new like these is introduced i cant help to think that a piece of the F1 that was dies. Now this last one, this double point last race thing, it's the most stupid and ridicolous idea ever tought about new rules. I really hope they regain their minds and will tell us that it has been only a joke.

if they want to go that way the most logical thing would be to introduce weight penalties like is already done in so many other motorsports.

'The principle of a global cost cap has been adopted. The limit will be applied from January 2015. A working group will be established within the coming days comprising the FIA, representatives of the Commercial Rights Holder and Team representatives. The objective of the working group will be to have regulations approved by the end of June 2014.'

Finally!

the cost cap should be introduced the way im going to expose you. they should tell: the cap is xxx million dollars but the money you spend on your staff count half than the money spent on equipment and structures this way teams are more prone to invest on people and create new jobs than invest on wind tunnels or simulators and we will go back to some old fashoned "traditional f1 designing" and more people having the opportunities to work in f1.

The only problem is that you're effectively trying to get Manchester City and Accrington Stanley spending the same amount of money. It's going to be so difficult to police - but it's a step in the right direction.

Plus it's all very well saying the cap is x million, but McLaren could then use their automotive side to subsidise it, whereas Red Bull could not...

Thinking aloud here - if/when this gets canned but Abu Dhabi still wants an extra large say in the championship, are we potentially looking at two races in one day, an equivalent of the Texas IndyCar double-header?

Honestly wouldn't surprise me. If they'd proposed two races for Abu Dhabi straight off, people may not have accepted it, but if it ends up being the lesser of two evils, it's possible. This may be the plan

THIS! +Infinite!

The other nearly as stupid rule was to limit maximum entrances down to 24 when USF1 failed to capitalize.

What's next? Everyone has to do two pitstops? Then three? How about four? Maybe increasing the minimum weight to 800 kilograms and then lower the maximum fuel down to 70kg? Twitter activated sprinklers and NOS? WHY THE F*CK NOT!

Perhaps. Then it triggers other events to do the same and we have GP1.

Has been suggested in the past. Flavio was a big fan iirc

And then reverse grids for the second race. Maybe that'll be brought in with a similar tactic - "we're going to have a random grid for the second race", "yuck, no, hate that", "OK, we won't do that, but we will have a reversed top 10", "OK, yeah, that's not that bad"

I believe Bernie owns the rights to the GP1 name, just in case...

Double Points to mask the lack of Overtaking! What a great plan!

Just give the finale back to Brazil if you want final race drama that much, you dicks.

If the race is stopped before 75% race distance, do they get half double points?

This is mental, why should 1 race be worth double points? Madness, utter madness to falsify the season.

I also see that looks like its confirmed/allowed for drivers to have any number from 2 to 99 on the car like in the past for next season..
Only the Champion of last season can have the 1 on the car if he wants...

Kimi should go for #99 like the ice cream jajajaja

Maldonado gets 8 or 88 as it's the same upside down.

Unfortunately, Alonso's can't choose 0.6.

Alonso will try to win next year's Abu Dhabi GP so he can start the next season with a helmet saying "Won the most points in 1 F1-race"

I would be in favour of a ruling that said if a race is officially declared wet it is worth double points.

Mainly to prevent all that whining about "it's too wet, the safety car must stay out" and waiting until it's intermediate conditions to actually go green flag racing

Vettel can go for (Multi) 21

If they wanted a ludicrous idea, they should let teams decide pre-season which race to use a 'double' joker.

I just really hope this idea is dropped... If this was in place in 2008/12, those two finales would be remembered less fondly. No 'Is that Glock?!' moment.

I wonder if drivers will get free reign of numbers or whether teams will dictate it.

What about bringing drop scores back? Just throwing it out there.
