I'm sure a Sauber did the same there a couple of years ago.

Never saw a replay of it so we don't know exactly what Gutierrez did.

On the Sauber website he claims that he hit a bump and that the front of the car locked.

Judging by the tyre marks it looks like he took too much speed into Turn 1, hit the bump and then slid into the barriers.

All too easy for Vettel if the rest of the teams/drivers can't get their act together.

If Ferrari had more qlf speed and if Mercedes had more race speed, it would be thougher for Vettel imho.

If you had 2 Webbers in the RedBull, you would also think that RedBull needs to get their act together.

Vettel his wins all look really easy, but how many 1-2 finishes did RedBull have this season? Or last season? Yes he has a good car, but he absolutely destroys his teammate, and I think he would still be really competitive if Raikkonen or Hamilton or whoever joined him at RedBull.

That's why I say other drivers also need to get their act together. He's the only one this season to drive flawlessly and who hasn't had a problem yet, except his tyres not always functioning properly.

And all due respect for Webber, but he's never been on par with Vettel.

pretty horrible that these days everything gets filmed from close by. Then again, I would probably do it too. Sometimes the moment itself seems to take away from reality.

These days? This isn't anything new. If anything, it might even have decreased a bit over the years.

There is a video screenshot (from a YouTube link) of the crane actually going over the marshal over at the Autosport forum. I am not going to post it, just find it in the relevant thread there.

It is not very pleasant I must warn you.

From a professional point I agree. A pro camera operator or photographer doesn't just stop and put down their camera. They keep shooting. Whether that be the recent Boston bombing or a disaster like Hillsborough.

And with being able to upload direct to the net from a cell phone these days anyone can do it.

I think so too. It happened just like that in Australia 2001. It's better that the relatives and friends get to hear personally it was him who died rather than reading it in some publication.

Ok, should've clarified but I don't want to make toooo big a deal of it.

In her wrapping up she said in a jovial way "Ok we probably should end it there because we're being run over by several vehicles, always the way here in Canada"

Not exactly word for word but it was along those lines, obviously no-one had any idea about the incident when it was said but hindsight changes everything doesn't it?

Here's Alonso's OnBoard of Hamilton braking before the DRS detection line:

Yeah great, I'm sure they're the first 2 drivers to ever try that, ever.

Some people seem oddly out to get Hamilton recently.
The same people and media that was patting Kimi on the back for his "Leave me alone" team radio message and lauding him as a great character are now posting stories saying how Hamilton had a "rant" at his team for saying largely the same thing so he could concentrate on defending from Alonso...

But then, hypocrisy in F1, that's never happened before right?

Never said they were, I don't see anything wrong with it either & Im not taking shots at Lewis for doing it.

Just thought it was something interesting which wasn't as obvious from the Heli-Cam shown on the world-feed as it was that OnBoard.

I didn't mean you personally stef....sorry ;)

People have been clamouring to see this "mystery footage" on facebook and twitter all day, using it as a weapon to suit their various agendas.
Since you provide the video in these situations I see you as the innocent messenger in this regard, and we all know the rules on messenger shooting ;)

I definitely noticed it from the heli-cam, Alonso's run was probably enough to pass but he checked up once alongside. With just one DRS zone, Hamilton's defence might have been enough to stem the attack as well - although Alonso might have tried harder into the chicane if he didn't have a second go.

Definitely nothing new, you see drivers doing similar things to avoid leading into the final lap of Formula Ford or even Caterham races or even at Indy avoiding passing down the front straight so you can do it on the back and have less chance of getting re-passed ... it's what Sato should have done last year.

Spanish commentary actually said at the time that Hamilton's radio comments were a lot like ones Kimi makes.

I know Alonso is uber talented but this just elevates him further in my eyes. How the fuck he he reacted and detected that in the millisecond he had, just beggars belief.

As macabre as it might sound I did a google search and there is a photo of the marshall a split second before he gets run over, can see him just starting to drop his radio.

Warning Contains image just before and after the Marshall was killed.

http://www.imotortimes.com/articles/244 ... photos.htm

The actual photo Stef was talking about is also easily found on google.
