AlphaTauri calling Ricciardo for a seat-fit means they turned up the heat for de Fries.

This would be a strange move if they're actually serious about it, unless it's just a ploy to get Devries to pick up the pace. I'd be shocked if they gave him less than half a season to perform. That's cutthroat even by Red Bull's standards. Plus what would be the point of putting an aging Ricciardo (who himself has struggled the last couple years) in a car that's intended to groom young RB juniors? With Devries championship pedigree, IMO you have to give him at least a full season and then evaluate whether or not to keep him in early 2024. Plus there's no guarantee for them that Tsunoda will get the job done either.

Would be pretty ruthless on De Vries, dude's been barely given a chance

Apparently Marko has already given De Vries the hurry up, Ricciardo is pouncing.

Rumours I’m hearing is that he’ll be out and Lawson will be in if he doesn’t improve drastically. Lawson has two Super Formula races coming up, that’s Nick’s deadline

5 races is an awful short time to prove yourself in a season where 4 teams take all the points and the 12 other drivers have to fight each other for the last remaining points.

De Vries isn´t doing worse than Tsunoda in his first races, Yuki was crashing all the time too and not scoring points. Still not impressed with Tsunoda in his third season. De Vries will get better, I believe he will still outscore tsunoda this season

This is the worst time in F1 history to be a rookie - limited pre season testing, practice reduction and all the veterans knowing the tracks

I was surprised they signed him in the first place. He had 1 good race. It felt a bit as getting one over Wolff by stealing his test/reserve driver.

He hasnt exactly set the world on fire in the first few races but I didnt find him overly bad either.

He has a public relations problem. He hasn't done a bad job, but he hasn't done a great job either. His issue is, he is just a bland guy.

If he was outspoken, energetic, super approachable etc then I feel he would be cut more slack. His problem is he has the personality of a wet paper bag. It is harder to fire a guy who everyone loves. Ricciardo is an example. People are still clamouring for him to come back.

He needs to be more... Dutch?

cars need to be less reliable to allow young hot shots to show more results

Indeed, a few lucky 5th places and a podium, and you'll be regarded as a "future champion". It was easier to make a surprise 20 years ago. Nowadays the only hope for rookies is some fortuitous red flag and/or pileup in the front.

Australia was the only "unreliable" race of the season so far because of the red flag farce, and the only race where Hulkenberg, Piastri and Zhou managed to score points

and today we know who might become world champion eventually because they're being crafted by the teams since early in Formula 4 (that of course if F1 teams stop dominating the sport and allow fresh faces to win here and there)

The only reason would be for car development and feedback. But this is a guy who was supposedly so broken that he "forgot" how to drive. If he was slower than Yuki (highly likely) then it is bye Dan to anything F1 related. As much as I love Dan, he is done. A good driver doesn't fall apart and need to be rebuilt after only two seasons.

This is different to Hulkenburg's or KMag's stints on the sidelines. They were still doing OK. Just got replaced. Dan got replaced because he fell into a hole. But if he does get a chance I sure hope he proves me wrong.

Did anyone else notice the disclaimer McLaren had above their Velo sponsorship on their sidepods? I can't see liveries full of disclaimers. And man, honestly, McLaren have gone from imo one of the coolest looking liveries ever in the 2021 launch spec, to now being one of the most cluttered/messy

Was probably a local requirement, sone countries are a bit backwards when it comes to vaping (aka Australia that has banned vaping unless prescribed by a doctor but still allows cigarettes to be sold without), I think some states in the states have similar regulations.

Yeah, local requirements. I believe the Indycars also run with something similar.
