SSN just spoke with a reporter who was at the test. She stated that the car Was on the way back into the pits when the cars front wheels locked and she collided with the teams truck. She remained in the car for at least 20 mins after the collision and at that point reporters were asked to leave

I assume it's a flat loading plate rather than a ramp as such, so she could well have go the edge of that hitting her in the head. Even at 20-30mph hitting something like that is bad. Massa was lucky with the spring impact but this could be different. Still, hoping it's not the worst news to come. BBC article now says "fights for life"

mm by the sound of things some SERIOUS questions will be asked about what a truck was doing exposed from the track like that.

The truck was not on the track. She had already done her run and was going back to the pits. No one would expect something like this to happen.

Doesn't one get back to the pits from the track??? And when I say exposed from the track I do not mean ON the track, just in a position where it can be reached from it if something were to go wrong, like it has.

yes, but Ospi might also refer to a court of law that will pose serious questions. Negligence is a word that comes up in the criminal law jargon.

It's the name of the 2012 chassis, not a denotation a specific tub.

Press Association

"The front of the Marussia car was destroyed in the crash and De Villota's helmet was seen to impact with the side of the truck.
De Villota was reportedly motionless for around 15 minutes as paramedics attended to her but was seen to move her hands before being transported to hospital"

I'm not hugely trusting PA myself yet. This waiting is horrible.

Quote:
This sounds very much like the cars anti stall system engaged at the end of the run. Inexperienced drivers having their first runs in a F1 car can be caught out by this. As they slow to stop the car or make a low speed turn (for example into a garage) they lift off the throttle and let the revs drop. The ECU senses this and sets throttle to around 50% with the car still in first gear resulting in a sudden acceleration such as the one described.

this is a photo of the driver. Apparently today was her first test.

Image

Seems like she might have been stuck under the lorry with her throttle jammed open, pushing the car further and further under it.

I've text Richard Connell (he now works in the design office for them) with our Best wishes and collective crossed fingers.. Pretty sure I won't get a response from him anytime soon.. If I do I'll pass it on..
