January 1st for 1968 lol.

But then a wait until May for the next championship Grand Prix.

But that didn't matter because all the F1-stars were doing stuff in other categories too. Some were even crashing into German trees :(

A look ahead to this weekend's race, including a witty headline

Looks like the "new" colour for tyre walls and curbs at the Albert Park will be green and yellow. Last year it was red and white.
Still missing the painted gravel traps...

Absolutly.. Today we look back at an F1 season of that era in isolation but truth is that Grand Prix were only a small part of a drivers season.. The hinted at Jim Clark would also race F2, sports cars, Touring cars, Indy cars, NASCAR, and a whole bunch of other formulae to make up his season... Far too easy to forget in the modern era tbh... I think the Drivers have it easy nowadays!

They would have been in the middle of doing the Tasman series when the first race was held in 68, I believe Levin was the final outting of the Green and Gold Lotus Livery and the Gold Leaf was introduced at one of the Australian races

I prefer a dry race, so we can draw our first real conlusions about who is fastest. Beside that, Melbourne is entertaining in almost any occassion so let's save the rain for other races.

Let the rain be at Melbourne and Spa.

We'll probably have a damp/wet friday (most likely FP1), unlikely on saturday, and most likely sunny on sunday.

Let there be rain everywhere. If we don't see rain, the season will probably be as boring as last years.

If I was living in Torquay, Victoria the race would only be 60 miles away from me and a short road trip, but I'm not and it isn't.

I like that. Just Lewis traditional design with an Australian flag and a Kanguru holding "round 1". Clean and nice.
