Not sure why a Hamilton win seems inevitable, with the golden horseshoe crammed up his arse, whatever Vettel does turns to gold at the moment.
Considering his car and specifically tyre advantage they have at the moment, coupled with the fact there's quite a few long, tyre hurting corners (Luffield, Maggots/Becketts), I'd wager a Ferrari pole and Vettel victory.

lol

The aeroscreen is awesome.

They're get it figured out.

Racing is still stupid dangerous, even with the addition of the screen. Trying to lessen the chance of someone getting beaned by debris is not suddenly going to take the "danger" out of the sport.

If you're against things like this, you're basically saying you just like seeing people die.

10 years time, when the cockpits and wheels are covered and there's little difference between an f1 car and an lmp1 car we'll come back to this

The "people against cockpit protection want to see people die" extreme point of view is getting old fast. People are allowed to fear for the future direction of the sport without being ghoulish.
Quit it

codename_47, I think Woodski is just joking and being ironic. The last argument is stereotypic and well-known version of "if you are against x, you are immoral/racist/evil/idiot". ;)

Cockpit's have closed up so much so why not go the last bit to protect their heads? Would you really rather see heavy debris bounce off your favourite drivers head just because you think open cockpits are 'traditional'?

I'll make no bones about the fact open wheel racing is my favourite type of racing, and watching it gradually being chipped away in favour of closed cockpits and then inevitably closed wheels is no fun.
No one wants to see anyone die, but considering how little such accidents happened even through eras where the entire top half of the body was exposed, you have to consider if fundementally altering the very foundation of the sport is worth it.

The safety argument coming from he same people who lament the lack of gravel traps is pretty funny too

Max isn't going to be happy with Massa there. Massa not paying attention at all.

Vettel doesn't like the shield.

Said it distorts the vision a lot because of the curvature & it made him a bit dizzy. Also said that it was creating a lot of down-wash in the cockpit which was pushing his head forward on the straights.

They had planned to run it more but he didn't like it so got them to take it off.

And Vettel's comments are the reason why these tests need to occur. This is just test number one after-all. In terms of the curvature, Gary Anderson mentioned that in his write up about the shield. His recommendations are for the screen to be flattened a little. With respect to the down-wash, that's a by-product of the device not being incorporated in to the aerodynamic design of the car. The aero geniuses will have that figured out in no time.

Wonder why nobody say anything about fear of death in Professional Road Cycling for example....what about MotoGP? Superbike? What about Skiing?

All dangerous sports where deaths happen...there has to be a consensus that Motor racing is dangerous, period. By the way, everything is dangerous, you can go out walk on street and die....so? Why F1 has to have 0% chance of death? Do not understand it.

That glaring problem is a seemingly easifix with anti reflective coatings like they have on solar panels. Seems silly that they tested it without any coatings. Ah well. Better then the halo.

It sounds like the glare/reflections aren't the biggest issue Vettel had with it.

Quote:
“I tried it this morning, I got a bit dizzy,” said Vettel. “Forward vision is not very good.”

“I think it’s because of the curvature, you get quite a bit of distortion. Plus you get quite a bit of downwash down the straight pushing the helmet forward.”
