I neither want Jos Verstappen style massive crashes, just some slight touches that might end a driver's race as a punishment for an unpatient move

Something i've found the past couple years is that while we have seen a substantial jump in the amount of passing going on, Most of it is forgettable while in the Pre-DRS/Pirelli era we got some very exciting & very memorable moments/overtaking moves.

I can think back to 2004 & the move Montoya put on Schumacher round the outside of the Bus Stop at Spa, I can remember several good overtakes at Shanghai as well as good battles like Schumi/Kimi at Silverstone, Alonso/Button at Hockenheim, Alonso/Webber at Bahrain etc...

Past 3 years apart from the Alonso/Webber & Schumi/Kimi Eau Rouge overtakes (The 1st which was undone by DRS the next lap) & Hamilton/Schumi at Monza '11 there's nothing really that memorable, Just a stream of unexciting DRS passing & often equally unexciting passing generated due to the tyres.

I get that a lot of people like what we have now & thats good for them, I'm just finding what F1's become to be extremely unsatisfying & my love for F1 is been eroded as a result.

Keith Collantine at F1Fanatics wrote an article not long ago giving similar views:

Here's my memory of 2011 and 2012:

Hamilton and Button - China 2011
Hamilton and Alonso - Nurburging 2011
The last section of the race (plus the finish) - Canada 2011
Hamilton and Massa - Silverstone 2011
Alonso and Vettel - Monza 2011
Kobayashi on lots of people - Japan 2011
Hamilton and Rosberg - Bahrain 2012
Kobayashi and Button - Spain 2012
Alonso and Vettel - Monza 2012
Massa and Senna - Singapore 2012
Hulkenberg, Hamilton and Grosjean - Korea 2012
Perez (before he spun out) - Japan 2012
Alonso and Webber - Abu Dhabi 2012
Vettel and Button - Abu Dhabi 2012

Yes, such a stream of unexciting passing generated due to DRS and tyres.

What do you mean by top-end tracks? New, smooth ones? because that would mean stiff supension works better.

Monza, Spa, Montreal, really any track we expected Red Bull to struggle at. But the way they've ran on newly built tracks for the last several years also backs up running a very stiff suspension setup.

Bottas passing Gutierez last weekend in turn 2 was pretty awesome. Yes, some DRS passes are easy, but it's better than no passing at all. Fast cars don't get stuck (like Alonso behind Petrov abu dhabi 2010) and we can see different strategy's play out all the way till the end of the race (Nurburgring this year is a good example).

We mostly had races in the past with only a handful of passes, and sometimes those passes were great. But not all of those non DRS passes were those fantastic ones we will remember for years. Think of another amazing pass from the 2004 season that wasn't Montoya on Schumi at Spa in the next 5 seconds. I couldn't, I'm sure there were other good passes in 2004, but the ones we remember are only the very best ones. We haven't forgotten all the rest because they were easy passes.

I like the races we have now more than the parades from the past. If you see a DRS pass just imagine he got passed due to a pitstop (like it was in the past). I understand why people don't like them, but it doesn't ruin the races. Not being able to pass ruined races.

Next year we will see different racing again, I think the loss of a Kers button will have a great impact on the DRS passes. Now we don't only see a DRS pass, but it's almost always in combination with a full Kers boost. With that taken away I think the DRS passes will become more difficult, and less noticeably "easy" for the viewer.

So.. Kimi announcing he's going to Ferrari on Evenstar's birthday? Coincidence? I think not!

I was at Spa this year. It was amazing experience. But not what I hoped. He agreed to do the announcement on my birthday after I held him at knife-point :D

I wonder if F1 will get new graphics in 2014 because LG is leaving after this race.

See?! This is why we can't have nice things. The motorsport world is rejecting female interests as it is already.

Welcome back Evenstar! What did you think about Spa?

It would be nice to see something like these again. Won't happen though :(

That intro makes us nostalgic but it's so austere and outdated. And it's laggy ! Even by those days standards it was unacceptable.

Late 90s CART grid music/graphics and everything associated should be taught in directing schools and slapped all over motorsport broadcasts.
