Ted Kravitz saying there's talk in the paddock that Mercedes are looking at paying Caterham to put Roberto Merhi in the car.

Has Niki Lauda completely lost his marbles? How did this happen? Well Niki, it happened because you have two top level drivers going at it hammer and tong to win a world championship. If they can't handle that then get an Eddie Irvine in there, someone who is the defacto No. 2 that can be a nuisance to the competition but not taking away from the clear No. 1.

"For [Hamilton], it's bad, no question about it. We will have a meeting later on with everybody together and see what are going to do. I think it's a bad result for the Mercedes team altogether and Lewis."

So the only logical conclusion I can come up with from Lauda's interview is that they will somehow contrive to get those points back for Hamilton by somehow taking them away from Nico?

Not sure why that has to happen mid-season, unless they want to prep him for their team next year. Also not the most talented junior driver imo.

So Red Bull and Mercedes fighting to get one of their junior drivers in the Caterham this year? The Lotterer drive makes much more sense now. Since they are only allowed to have 4 drivers a season I assume Caterham is hoping those 2 are trying to raise the price of the seat by their bidding.

Magnussen has 20 seconds added for crowding Alonso beyond the edge of the track.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Great, now even less drivers will dare to fight Alonso...

Can't say I'm too surprised at that. I am a little surprised they didn't investigate Vettel for his rather dramatic swerve, but I guess he did at least keep it clear of the track edges.

Good. It doesn't matter who were involved, you just don't do that.

I don't have the exact quotes, but Lewis just told the print press that Nico admitted in debrief he deliberately hit him to prove a point.

Expect fireworks from within Mercedes after Lewis claims that in an internal team meeting, Nico admitted hitting Lewis on purpose

I can't believe that Nico would be so thick as to admit to hitting another driver deliberately. That would immediately make the issue an issue for the FIA.

1. Why would he do it to make a point?
2. Why would he admit it?

Totally agree. Perhaps Nico made a joke or sarcastic comment / admission which has been taken out of context?

Well, Saward is saying that Rosberg only admitted he left his nose in, which is quite a bit different from saying he deliberately caused the collision

Very much so. But that admission does suggest some form of irresponsibility by Nico as you could assume that he's saying he could have done more to avoid the collision?

He is a professional race car driver, he knows his front wing, he knows his tires.... I am 100% sure he knew what he was doing.

I think that's basically what has happened. Lewis is just making a meal of it to get the media on his side, and maybe an investigation
