It seems that Whitmarsh held a teleconference with top journalists this afternoon and a few of them seem to have picked up that Perez is out.

Reading Whitmarsh's quotes it certainly seems to be pointing towards that way, although he's trying not to give it away.

Williams says none at the moment. I have read elsewhere that they may not need any money from Felipe because they got quite a bit out of PDVSA in return for letting them end the contract 2 years early.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Clare Williams says there's no money, but that they hope to exploit the market courtesy of Massa's signing.

BBC reporting Magnussen to McLaren as a done deal.

Williams have always had a very sober approach to pay drivers, "we wouldn't hire him [Maldonado] if we thought he was a wanker", etc. Don't think hiring Massa will hurt in the long term. It's probably for the greater good.

Next year is looking better and better, I think Mercedes is going to be the only team with the same drivers... Maybe Marussia too (I hope Bianchi will get a seat in a Force India or Sauber but I doubt that'll happen), either way it will be very interesting to see how every body compares to one another. I for one think that Bottas will eat Massa for breakfast, but time will tell. I very much hope Williams can pull it together next year.

Massa has no sponsors yet, but Petrobras is willing to return to F1 as supplier

Petrobras almost closed a deal with Honda before the japanese went away (with Senna at the wheel) and then were in deal with McLaren, but it was just rumours

Robin Frijns is not really the smartest guy out there. I don't know him and i cannot claim that i've followed him 'all his career'. But seeing that Magnussen in a worse F3.5 field then Frijns won the title and is gonna be promoted to a top team in F1, and Frijns still on the side lines, I wonder if he just shouldn't have taken the Red Bull support. Or any support at all. Maybe it's a Dutch mentality, or he is just trying to be Villeneuve/Irvine way too soon, but he shot himself in the foot i think.

Yes, I'm Dutch, but also in the 90s were a lot of good drivers in F3000 ending up nowhere while beating all the guys who did went to F1. I just hope that F1 doesn't ruin itself financially. I think it all depends on when the Bernie-dinasty ends.

It's official. Not bad, two announcements for one day.

It's not confirmed until Mclaren say it is.
BBC and autosport jumped the gun there with a "sources say" story.
Maybe true but all speculation atm.

It's not official until the team confirms it, which they have yet to do.

But the delay means it's more likely that it's Magnussen than Perez.

Another reason to justify the decision is that, as has been discussed, Perez's main attribute is his ability to save tyres. Pirelli is supposedly going conservative in 2014 so Perez would lose that.

Agree with Frijns being dumb rejecting Red Bull. He didn't wanted to drive for Arden (because they were new in FR3.5). He only looked at the short term and now on the long term his career is pretty much ruined. Look at Sainz, he destroyed that guy in every class he drove against him and look who is most probably to make F1... F1 nowadays is like Football, you won't get into if you are outside of a talent program.

I don't think it is a Dutch Mentality. He wanted to get in F1 on base of talent and the bas of money like previous Dutch Pay drivers like Verstappen, Albers, Doornbos and now Van der Garde. But guess who is defending the honour of our country nowadays :flag: .

I haven't been keeping up to date but...what are the current rumors on where Perez would end up for next season?

Would be a bit harsh for McLaren to dump Perez after 1 season in which the car has been crap.

Magnussen's a top talent from what i've seen of him in WSBR but coming into a top F1 team with all the pressure that includes in a season which will feature such a big rule change with the new power units is going to be tough.

BBC are reporting that Alonso's fit to race this weekend:
