He's been against the new engine rules since the 1st time they were proposed & has poured hated on them ever since.

He did backtrack slightly when interviewed on Sky during practice at Sepang where he said something like 'They don't sound as bad as I thought'.

In 5 to 10 years Formula E will probably take over as the primary FIA single seater series as F1 will have self destructed by then, mark my words.

In all fairness, this current situation is almost no different to that of 2001-2002 when F1 lost Arrows and Prost plus Jordan had to sell up as well as Minardi being floated somewhat by Stoddart. 12 years later and almost nothing has changed. I doubt it ever will.

If Formula E is still around in 2 years, I'll be amazed.

If Marussia hold on to their 10th place, what will happen to their prize money? It goes to Manor Motorsport?

Doesn't it get redistributed among the existing teams? Think that's how it works.

Won't make a lot of difference for him as he'll still be staring at the gearbox of every other car on the grid at 1pm.

That's if he has a car on the grid at all.

On the plus side, it probably means Gutierrez moves into something more befitting of his talent level.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

I was going to say lawnmower racing but that might have been seen as xenophobic so I shied away.

Yeah, probably Formula E or Indycar backmarker.

What a complete waste of a potentially good race seat.

With Mexico back next year, I can see Sutil leaving and not Gutierrez

Normally I would agree, but Slim's decided he's only paying for one driver, and that's the one with redeeming qualities.

Why do you think GvdG is so confident of claiming the other seat? He knows he only has to outfund Sutil.

The ever-savvy Peter Sauber realised he could save 50% on '#9' stickers by replacing Sutil with Ericsson.

Giedo's father in law is very rich. If it comes down to money (not talent) i'm sure he will win.

A bit of a surprise, but Bernie has told the press he feels that the current financial shitstorm is 'probably' his fault, and that he might have arranged payments differently had the money been his.

He has also suggested to the top teams that they carve off a small percentage of their CVC payments into a pool for the bottom teams, and that he will match it. More here:

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/116584

I find that all a remarkable mea culpa on his part.

But with that, he is taking the Fernandez route, of well its not quite actually his fault, see he was working for an employer and his hands were tied so no its not actually his fault that he negotiated contracts that were detrimental to the health of the sport. After all, if the teams just relent on their contracts then all would be hunky dory, so its all their fault really.

I just feel that Bernie has had his head so far up his own arse for soo long that it is only just now that he has been made to realize (forced to realize I think by certain people, judging by the backtracking of comments from just a few days ago) that it is he that has turned F1 into what it is today, and he that will potentially bring it to its knees.

And how the fuck can Jean Todt still be the president of the FIA? The only time we ever see or hear of him is when he is budding up with rich oil sheikhs or dictators.....unless of course this is of his hand?

WEC or GP2 will then be king of motorsports. Cuz they dont have so complicated rules and where noses dont look like dicks, and the sound is better too

i don't like three cars if it can score points, because then backmarkers would even have less chance to score.

But I don't like the proposed ideas either like 4th car gets the points for 3rd place (because Mercedes scored a 1-2-3 for example) or there would be allocated no points at all for 3rd car (but then the small teams will have the same problem)

I think third cars should be run by a seperate team, some sort of customer car, different sponsorship, maybe on a 'rental' basis and reduce max RPM for these a tiny little bit.
