Not everyone is a racing driver who loves his work.

Doesn't really work like that. He can't be seen to be a volunteer driver, that completely devalues his talent and what he does.

Of course not, but he has a competitive car at his disposal.

Right. But he also knows he's already got a competitive car lined up for next year, it's not like he's trying to impress anyone. He's getting completely fucked over, I don't blame him for kicking up a stink.

He's not happy, so why stay?

What about himself? A proper racing driver's first enemy is himself, right? You always want to do better than your last try. You always want to RACE. He may not be happy in the team, but I bet you he's happy when his trying hard. He's the raciest of them all out there, so whenever he has calmed down, he will get back into the car in the last two races. That's my bet.

I think he'll stay too.

Because that way he won't have breached the contract from his end and will therefore have carte blanche to clean Gravity out in court.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

And all the while he racks up points, Lotus owe him more money.

What was the deal again? About $4m basic salary + $50k per point?

It would be Valsecchi.

Just doing the maths, Kimi is owed, if that $50k a point + $4m salary is right, over $9m by Lotus. I'm not sure if Euro or US is the correct denomination to use, but that's an insane amount of money, enough to start court proceedings. If Maldonado was coming to Lotus, he would have to pick up the tab before even injecting any more into squad.

This is the issue; I think Lotus is waiting for the money from Quantum to pay Kimi.

Yes, it is an insane amount. Lotus [as Renault] scored 236 points in two seasons and then hired a supposedly rusty Kimi. A dollars-per-points contract probably seemed like a good idea back then...

F1 deals in Dollars, but it depends how the exchange rate is. That is what's fucked the Indian GP incidentally (tax aside).

I'd hope Lotus have him in the simulator so he's fully prepared in case he needs to make his debut in Austin. Although I'm more hoping that Lotus have enough 50 pence pieces for the elecricity meter in order to run the simulator...

They don't have a Young Driver test at Abu Dhabi?

Always wondered what Valsecchi could do, so wouldn't mind seeing him proving himself.

YDT was at Silverstone.

Reading elsewhere that Raikkonen's base salary is €8 million, and that his owed retainer is about €17 million.

Either I told them the 4 weeks before to shove it already or I'd be the bigger man and finish the last 2 as well to not let my soon to be ex co-workers down.

It's not that I disagree with him over the reason, it's the timing that I disagree on. He hasn't been paid all season, He landed a better job so there is no need to prove himself more this season yet het went on to do 4 more races and doing a 5th this weekend and now is saying he might not do the final 2.
What happend that changed his mind? Either speak up or shut up.

Mexico & New Jersey aren't happening, so it's back to 20 races for 2014.

Bernie Ecclestone is a sensual lover.
