so, after almost one year, we (=the fans) still don't know if he can talk, if he can communicate in one way or another with his family, if he does anything else besides lying in his bed, if he watches tv, can he walk, etc etc

with all these statements it is difficult to 'react' and everytime I got very mixed feelings. Should I be happy because it looks like it is going well, should I be sad because maybe he is living like a plant these days...

Yeah I know what you mean. The lack of detailed updates these days means that the reader is virtually unable to decide for themselves if it is a positive or negative e.g. him leaving the Swiss hospital to continue his rehab at home. I think it's at a point where any big positives are sadly unlikely :( So from now on all I can hope is that there are regular positive steps even if they are small.

Don't want to be rude but if we read all those statements that pop up from time to time this means we are not close enough to him to have business in this. We must respect the way his family handle things no matter what.

Dutch media is reporting that Jean todt told Belgium tv that Michael soon will be able to lead a normal live but will likely never be able to sit behind a wheel of an f1 car ever again.

That sounds great, but I dont think Michael would ever drive an F1 car again lol.

Wow, that is unexpected news if it is true. Great!

I'd like to believe it, but "Dutch media said Jean Todt told Belgian TV" isn't exactly the best source.

I'm skeptical that there is a lot being lost in translation there because the latest update was that there has been some steady progress but he still has a long & difficult road ahead.

That would be hugely positive news if true. I hope someone's not taken liberties with the translating though.

Hard to believe as it was only recently reported he receives 24/7 aid from group of 15 medical professionals.
But one must hope.

Yeah, that was an interview with L'Equipe: http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/schum ... ress-todt/

This seems to be something different. Google Translate's version of the Dutch has Todt saying "We may assume that Schumacher could lead a relatively normal life again in the foreseeable future". The original source is RTL. I doubt they'd totally make up an interview so it sounds as if Todt has done two interviews, saying different things in each

At this point, any improvement/progress is good news so I'll take it.

I keep thinking back to that graph Dr. Hartstein had posted where after a certain number of months, the probability of significant improvement drops dramatically and it essentially becomes status quo from that point on.

So the fact that he is still showing signs of improvement after 9 months is encouraging.

This is how Bild is reporting Todt;

Asked if Schumacher will ever be able to have a normal life again Todt said: "You can only hope so. He will definately not be able to drive in Formula 1 again."
