Planning to go to Hockenheim and Spa (but only either Friday or Saturday), maybe even Monza. Depends on what my friends want to do and whether I can arrange that with my exams/work.

^ What he said. And I am too poor this year anyway. British GT will do!

Nothing, i'm too poor for F1. But not for Le Mans and WEC at Spa.

Going on Fridays/Saturdays is not too expensive. General admission at Nürburgring for Friday only cost me just 20 € in 2009; I had access to most tribunes and free seat choice. In theory you have 3 hours of F1 practice on Friday plus the support series sessions. A Bronze ticket for Saturday in Spa cost 40 € last year, was well worth it, too (F1 practice + qualy, GP2 race, etc.).
Of course there may be travel expenses if you don't live near the circuit but if you have a friend who goes with you can share a car/fuel costs, for example.
I agree that the prices they charge for F1 Sundays are ridiculous, I can't afford that either, but I rather watch the races on TV anyway.
How many do those series you guys mention charge?

BTCC and British GT/Formula 3 are usually about €30 - €40 for a weekend pass.

Nothing is very expensive, except for F1. Well, I'm not too sure about DTM and Moto GP costs over here.

Has anyone ever done the Thursday Pitwalk in Hockenheim? I heard that you need full weekend tickets to get access, is that correct?

No, with any ticket you can visit the pitwalk, and you can meet the drivers - they are siging autographs.

I contacted the Hockenheim ticketing agency and they told me you need full weekend tickets for the pitwalk. They don't even sell day tickets (except for Sunday). Due to this stupid policy, I won't go there at all.

Silverstone for the 5th time. Despite the shoddy organising and undoubtedly rain at some point, you just can't beat it really. Chose Stowe A this time.

I am thinking of going to Silverstone for the whole weekend as it will be a gift from my parents.

Is it a good idea to book it through a F1 tour package like Airtrack or Page&Moy? Also what about accommodation near the circuit?

Last question, where is the best place to view the GP? I stayed inside the old Copse and outside Luffield in the past.

Packages through people like Page&Moy are unbelievably expensive. Your best bet is to use Silverstone's booking line/website. Then just have a look for hotels/campsites on Google or ask people where they recommend.

As for viewing, no idea. Last time I went to Silverstone, Bridge wasn't a corner.

I'm going to Albert Park this year!

In november probably, let's see how it fits in the schedule.

Has anyone ever visited the Mclaren Technology Centre in Woking? Do they offer guided tours? I'm in London next month and would like to go there.

Edit: Found out it's not opened for the public, you have to be invited as a guest. :( Does the same apply to the McLaren showroom at London Hyde Park?

I guess if you're guaranteed to meet drivers and get close to the cars then it's a pretty good deal. Just for comparison, I paid about $700 just for a Sunday ticket at Monaco a few years ago. Just for a good seat, no pit lane stuff. And about $700 for a 3 day pass at Spa last year. $500 to go in the pits sounds like a steal, but then your tickets seem amazing value. $60 for the weekend? Yes please!

Although you might be posting in Aussie dollars, and I have no idea how they compare to US. :p

calling this "a good deal" means being part of the total loss of contact with the real world that formula1 has become since so many years.

for 20€ some years ago i went to the WTCC+GT1 race in Monza: 2 wtcc races, 3h of GT1/2/3 racing and more supporting categories, Wonderful Cars, great drivers, a whole day of racing from the morning at 9 to the evening at 18: at that price you can sit wherever you want, you have free admittance to the paddock, a pitwalk, autographs with the drivers, if you,'re astute enough you can enter even the box or the pitlane. I had my book signed by Alex Zanardi, had a little chat with great drivers like Tarquini or Prialux wich seemed everything but annoyed or bored by the contact with the fans. To me this is the essence of motor racing.
