30+ years of watching formula 1 and for the longest time never thought a Dutchman would win the title or even win races. I am so happy!

You uk guys already have Norris and Russell waiting to take over from Lewis. We Dutch have nothing after max. So will likely be another 30+ years before another dutchy comes along once max retires

You got about 15 years of the Max Verstappen era to come yet lol

Then about 5 years after that, Max Jr will take over

Yes, Ricciardo, Stroll and Schumacher finished one lap down so they weren't waved.

Yes, this is what Ted has been saying in the post race and will be the subject of the most controversy

They did it for the show, of course

It's so weird we're in the era of F1 creating the show, NASCAR style, and not the Charlie Whiting "I'd rather Marshals die than interrupt the purity of this sport"

To be fair. Swap max and Lewis and Toto would be screaming for this to happen

FIA will claim that that's all they had time to do in order to still get a lap of racing in. As I said further up, if they have done it before (or if the regs allow the wiggle room) then Mercedes have nothing to do.

I have to give a cheer for Lewis, he's so professional driver and don't show bad loser side of him.
He's calmly accepted what happened, no crying from bad stewards or anything like that and attending interviews and podium ceremony normally, although not as happy as he could.
If this happened opposite, Max would cry at teamradio all the way to pits and then not attending podium or interviews and showing like his eaten a lemon.

That's a real difference between young and eager Max vs. 7th time champion Lewis.

And to make it clear i voted for Max to win WDC

I feel if that was our 2008 title showdown, who is going to be our Brawn next year and suprise everyone by taking advantage of the title protaganists throwing everything at the title and dominate the early part of 2022?

Williams/Mclaren/Ferrari/Alpine winning races next year? :whistling:

Don't do this mate, putting words in people's mouth. We don't know how Max would've reacted.

but he did drive straight to the pits instead of parking on the track like he was supposed to...

I guess this kind of outcome was highly predictable when you have the Race Director trying to be a "personality" and inserting himself into the narrative where ever he can. Case in point, having a camera on him.

My Christmas wish list as a disgruntled fan....I just want consistent application of the rules and procedures not seemingly arbitrary stuff that seems made up on the spot.

This is the unlapping procedure as written in the FIA sporting regs
Quote:
39.12 If the clerk of the course considers it safe to do so, and the message "LAPPED CARS MAY NOW OVERTAKE" has been sent to all teams Competitors via the official messaging system, any cars that have been lapped by the leader will be required to pass the cars on the lead lap and the
safety car.
This will only apply to cars that were lapped at the time they crossed the Line at the end of the lap during which they crossed the first Safety Car line for the second time after the safety car was deployed.
Having overtaken the cars on the lead lap and the safety car these cars should then proceed around the track at an appropriate speed, without overtaking, and make every effort to take up position at the back of the line of cars behind the safety car. Whilst they are overtaking, and in order to ensure this may be carried out safely, the cars on the lead lap must always stay on the racing line unless deviating from it is unavoidable. Unless the clerk of the course considers the presence of the safety car is still necessary, once the last lapped car has passed the leader the safety car will return to the pits at the end of the following lap.
If the clerk of the course considers track conditions are unsuitable for overtaking the message "OVERTAKING WILL NOT BE PERMITTED" will be sent to all teams Competitors via the official messaging system

Like the 2021 slash to the rear downforce, which massively benefitted red bull? :whistling:

I think the difference is that the track status at Imola, and the crash at Silverstone objectively called for a red. Those were big. Here, people will feel that there was a latitude of action for the officials

No, that's no my intention but it has been show at past so... But who knows, we didn't see that now.

Yeah, first i though we would hear a rant about everything in team radio and Lewis disappearing straight to motorhome. But after all that, he didn't show us that bitter face.

Hopefully FIA gets it shit clear and we get straight rules for 2022 without this "maybe i will, maybe i don't"-line of stewards this season.
