Richie Stanaway was in the running for the young driver test with Williams, but he couldn't come up with the cash to do so, and Grosjean was a compete C*** and spread lies about him in the Lotus team which is why Prost got the drive and not Richie

One that wasn't mentionned but that I liked a lot: the 2004 Jaguar.

Too bad they never went full BRG on it.

Arrows A19. This black cutie is one of my favourites, and I even saw it IRL when in the late 90s Zepter conducted a big advertising campaign in my hometown featuring the bolide as an exhibit in one of the shopping malls.

Just some self-promotion, but the other F1Zone scribe was able to chat to Bernd Maylander at Spa - just a different perspective on the sport

Word of mouth from relevant sources, you can take it as a grain of salt if you want

Sorry I don't believe that one. He didn't get a test because another driver bad mouthed him? That's not now things work, especially with Frank.

The Williams test was down to money or lack of, but I guess that's a similar story for many many other drivers and that's all part of the game, it was the Lotus young driver test I was referring to with regards to Grosjean, obviously there would be other factors involved and not soley down to one drivers comments, reading back over my post I do admit I made it sound as if it was the sole reason, my bad.

Grosjeans not exactly a popular man in the Lotus camp, despite the advantage of having the same management in the team he drives for. I don't believe that personally. Not calling you a list of course - you know your stuff, especially with your local drivers!

How dare you call him a list! :p

--------------------------------------

It does sound a bit odd, I haven't heard of any other stories of Romain being a twat to anyone inside or outside the team.

From Richie's point of view, despite it not being his fault, getting injured and then not going back into single seaters won't have helped either.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

Also very true, he's pretty much given up on the F1 dream now anyway, it's interesting that his management Gravity decided to put him in the Porsche supercup and WEC despite his impressive single seater credentials, I was with him when he got the call confirming he'd be doing supercup, he sounded happy but you just got the sense that he was gutted, but regardless of what he does I think he has a bright future in motorsports.

Quantum Motorsports on Twitter (I'm assuming it's legit, some top F1 people are following), say there will be an announcement tomorrow. They're also following just the two drivers - Grosjean, and Hulkenberg.

I could be adding 2 + 2 to make 5, but...

lol, the Williams looks nice, but the yellow before the cockpit was painted because the cockpit rose nicely. A bit meaningless now that it is all flat.

Brabham, Hesketh and Tyrell get my vote. Can someone please show these to all potential F1 sponsors and teams ...

Quote:
Extra safety leads to 'borderline reckless-driving' - Anthony Davidson

"We don't want to see fans get injured or drivers get injured or killed but the drivers should get punished. On some modern circuits it's pathetic when you see drivers going off the track and nothing happens. The [circuits] are borderline too safe. The problem is, the safer the circuit becomes the more ruthless the driving becomes. So today there is such little respect for each other's safety on the track. They feel like they can bang wheels in a straight line because 'the car is mega-safe - it will take it' is the belief and therefore you get this crazy, almost borderline reckless-driving coming into play. There's got to be compromise with safety and I feel it's just going too far at this stage. As a driver you have to live with the fact you might die one day. Otherwise you might as well just play computer games."

glad that he raises this point.

Those are great, but weirdly I'm not overly thrilled by either the Jordan or the Gold Leaf Lotus.
