It is literally a worse version of Valencia.

That said, turn one could be fun in the junior series.

Even Valencia had a great race in 2012.... :whistling:

The way this year's championship is going, the races are at least going to be somewhat watchable even if the track itself is shite.

some highlights. Very 'grey' track. I hope the weather will be equally grey... so as to provide the 'ultimate soviet feel'

Don't worry, they will certainly paint those huge tarmac runoff areas with some sponsor logos for the F1 race.
I can't see any challenging corner at all. Turn 2 (the 'real' turn 1 after the kink) however looks faster than I thought.

Don't worry, they will certainly clumsily mark those huge tarmac runoff areas with stupid CG 'Bernie says' in-jokes for the F1 race.

"F1 Doesn't do politics"-Bernie

Which is Ironic because F1 is the most political organisations in the world, but I guess he means they don't do international politics, they spend all their time slyly maneuvering and sabotaging each other instead...

Unless Sochi is declared a warzone and they're advised not to travel, they'll show up and take Russia's money.

Everyone feared something would happen at the Olympics and it never did.

Yes the track is an abomination and the only reason its happening is because of money, but its a race and its going to be important for the championship fight.

The teams wont do jack shit because they will be fined faster and harder than we ever seen but at the same time I bet they're hoping that either the FIA or their own governments intervene and prevent the event from happening.

I wonder what would happen if the British government forbids them to go there. Many teams are from the UK and therefor lots of staff. The FIA could fine the teams but they can claim force majeure.

Why did they drop Korea? Probably due to finances, but F1 always had good races there.

Building the circuit hours from Seoul was never going to work in the long run.

The British government won't do that, besides their attention is elsewhere ATM.

Not only that but it's about 100 km of nearest city of one million people (Gwangju).
