1 week till silverstone. If the weather can stay this way it's going to be a great weekend. Not going to hold my breath for a British winner though.

Silverstone this weekend, went to Spa last year so looking forward to seeing the new section. :)
Hope they've managed to sort out the horrendous traffic after the race though, don't fancy 4 hours in the car park again.

No Mini's and no FBMW this year at the Nurburgring. Only 4 series that weekend... Anyway, there will be F1 8)

Pouhon is a very nice place. I was there in 2009 at Saturday, very quick corner, you''ll be able to see the cars exiting the corner before. Also there's a big tv screen. On Sunday I watched the race from the 'Busstop' chicane. Also a very good view. You'll have to come early though, best spots where already taken when I arrived at 07.30.

As my exams are screwing up my trip to Nürburgring I've been wondering about Spa or Monza. Does anyone have some experiences? I was thinking about how easy it is to "meet" team staff and drivers as well as about a good grandstand (eg T8 in Monza) and what about General Admission?

In Spa general admission is definitely the way to go. It is cheapest and you can go round almost the entire circuit. Only problem is you don't have a roof over your head when it rains.
I'd suggest you read through the pages of this topic, as Spa is already discussed lots of times.

I went to Monza in 2008. A historic race of course, that one.
I sat at turn 1 and would like to show you pictures but didn't take a lot given the weather. http://www.mygpticket.com/f1/ned/race/monza_f1/ticket_lijst (stand nr. 6c as indicated on this site).

On Friday you could visit any stand you wanted to. So I took the opportunity to visit the stands which had an umbrella over them (stand nr. 26 + nr. 22). The best view in my opinion however was nr. 16 as it provided a cool view of Ascari.

I will have to disappoint you by saying that in Monza there is unfortunately not one place where you can see the cars for a long time.
Given that + a very fast race, you could end up a bit disappointed I'm afraid, certainly given the whole trip you would undertake.
One positive though is that, regardless of the ticket, you can get very close to the paddock. You should see some drivers arriving with their cars on Sunday morning. I saw Lewis Hamilton right in front of me making his way in on a scooter.

These were some of my views for your help:

- stand nr. 8
Image

- the Ascari chicane, nr. 16
Image

- Parabolica, nr. 22
Image

- my stand, nr. 6c

Seriously, not worth the money IMO. We watched from Free Practices at Eau Rouge, inside of Rivage and the Kemmel straight. Watched qual from Rivage and race from the hill on the run down to Pouhon. All stellar veiwing spots.

could you tell me a bit about this location please? Do you need to be there will in advance? I will probably not make it before 11 am :(

I arrived around 8.30 at the track last year and had a hard time to find a good spot at Pouhon. Best spots were already taking a long time before that.

I'd go to Monza just to see the old oval.

General Admission is probably the best value for money at Spa. But if I went back again I would definitely save up and go for a grandstand again. No worries about getting to the track early for a good spot, and very thankful to be under cover during that mass downpour in the GP3 race. :p

The viewing area at Pouhon was actually really good. I don't know if I'd want to sit there during the race (I like to try and find an overtaking spot) but it was a great place to watch the cars during practice. Amazing to see how fast they go through there.

And yeah, hoping to do Monza 2012 or 2013. :)

Glorfindel and I queued at the track entrance gates ready for them opening. We went straight there and it was pretty packed already.

thanks for that!

I should go by train but I'm unsure where to go to the track from. From the Spa station or the Verviers station.

My tickets for Spa arrived :)

Got Bronze tickets for Saturday only. Will try to get places at Pouhon and Les Combes for the F1 sessions and wander around for the other series. :)
