Sometimes something is so bad it actually becomes funny.

This isn't it.

The problem with DRS, and F1 as a whole at the moment, is that F1 doesn't know what it wants to be. The way DRS is set up means that the drivers are still chasing lap times and gaps as they used to in the refuelling days, but the refuelling ban and tyre changes have tried to turn it back into more of an endurance series, there's still this emphasis on trying to produce genuine drama, action and overtaking, and the money men still want to embrace the Hollywood side and exploit new markets. Meanwhile, the cars still can't overtake each other without assistance, and when they do get that, it's often so easy the cars get sorted in order of pace very quickly, meaning they all space out (as was the case today). And unreliability remains rare too

The result is these races which build up like a crescendo but when you get to the climax, there's nothing there - in particular all those races Vettel has won despite only being a few seconds ahead of everyone else. He's so good at controlling races - he's the master of doing just about enough, which makes him look mediocre when actually it's brilliant. So many times over the past 2 years I've heard Brundle say "we've got a race on our hands" with about 10 to go, when actually Vettel's got plenty in hand and is just toying with them. I wasn't alive when Prost was in his prime but this is what I imagine it to be like

Also hi

Just noticed in Sauber's Abu Dhabi preview.

Giampaolo Dall’Ara, Head of Track Engineering:
"Pirelli will allocate the soft and the medium compounds, which might be a little bit on the conservative side"

Oops.

Lol, I only posted what I did to cause a stir. The lunatic who created that must have spent hours on it though.

Hey. Why don't you do an "Alonso Fan" a favour and stop generalising. Half the people complaining are more Anti-Vettel than Pro-Alonso or Pro-Ferrari. People can't stand dominance, anyone following any sport for a period of time will understand.

It's why Vettel is currently disliked. Why Alonso and Schumacher were. Why the New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers are two of the most hated NFL Teams. Why more people despise United and Liverpool than any other clubs [although disliking Liverpool is just common sense :p]. Do all Nascar fans still hate Jimmie Johnson? e.t.c.

With regards to the race it was the third dull affair in a row. No offence to Vettel and RBR as they're doing a fantastic job but the races have taken a noticeable drop in quality since going to the Asian leg, the unpredictability of the early races is gone and not all of that is the circuits. It doesn't help that the tyres aren't a factor anymore, the teams have sussed them out, and the complaints from earlier in the season are gone.

Given up on the title. I think Vettel will win it with a round to spare as Alonso will have to go into desperation mode in America.

It's a shame that Schumacher seems to be exiting his second F1 career with a whimper but well I'm sure the 7 titles and 91 race wins are more than a comfort.

I'm certain Perez is in for a butt-kicking at Mclaren next season against Jenson Button.

Lewis Hamilton has lost a ton of points due to the team this year [although that was a ridiculously good stop today] however I wonder how many the Williams team have lost this year due to their two drivers. They've built a car comparable to the Mercedes and Saubers but are nowhere near them in the standings.

Have you read the Alonso thread on Atlas?

If you haven't, I strongly recommend you don't for the purposes of remaining mentally sound, but it's like clockwork. Every time Alonso expresses an opinion or a line of attack, his fans treat it like gospel until the next opinion comes along. It's not just negative opinions either; Hamilton's name used to be mud for a lot of those people, but he and Alonso start their love-in earlier this year and suddenly they're all Lewis fans too.

Not every fan is like this, obviously, but it's quite unnerving to see it happen.

I don't understand fandom anyways. Love someone, but don't follow them when they do bullshit or act like assholes just because they're Mister X.

Men change over time, and only their actions matter, not their person. If we could all follow this motto the world would be a better place (like, no more blind followers of a given artist/sportsman/politician/nation).

Regarding tyres, just for a change swap some of the early and late Asian races.

So calendar like:
Australia
Korea
Singapore
India
Abu Dhabi
.
(European season as it is with Canada in-between)
.
Japan
China
Malaysia
Bahrain
USA
Brazil

I prefer Singapore somewhere at the end of the calendar and Bahrein at the beginning, even though I prefer the last one to be cancelled completely.
