FP1 may be extended from 90mins to 2hrs next year with teams encouraged to run there 3rd drivers during that session.

Meh, unfreeze engine rules. Allow more development, qualifying spec, scrap parc ferme and bring back warm up. Just allow them to spend what they want and if teams go bust then so be it. Scrap the team limit as well, maybe we'd end up with pre qualifying again and get rid of the 107% rule. Mobile chicanes are a part of racing as anything but some of them may not even qualify if you limit the grid size rather then the entry size.

While this is totally the opposite of what should happen this would actually be a good thing, as it would put the entire sport on the brink of collapse and then the teams would probably go and finally set up a rival GP series where they have control and much flexibility while having backing from FIA.

Another point is that teams would be allowed to change drivers mid-session.

The only way the teams will run the 3rd driver is if the rules say they have to. Giving them 2 hours won't do that.

Auto, Motor & Sport is - well - let's say "warning" that we might get to see some very ugly cars next year due to the regulation change around the nosecone. From what I have read the noses could look like the McLaren MP4/18 (19) of 2003/2004. Well at least I hope so.

And entry fees.

Not small teams. Teams like Marussia and HRT's r&d development would have been 2-5% the whole budget. You are right with entry fees but it isn't cheap setting up grand prixs. Costs Melbourne around $50m to set up the track and market the race, and they still lose $35m a race.

HRT had no R&D. They used basically the same car for three years - they brought a Monaco-spec car to Monza.

The teams starting up a rival series which they have control over would be a complete disaster.

They can't agree on anything & each team is pushing there own wants & needs as it is. Put them in charge of an actual series & it would be even worse, Each looking out for themselfs with nobody looking out for the best interest's of the series.

They couldn't even agree amongst themselfs on where/when to hold the young driver test last year.

Stewards will have more lenient penalty's to apply for next year:

And then it'd collapse when Honda, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes, etc all throw hissy fits when they can't get what they want. Frankly, I don't think they'd even be able to agree on the time they'd have the first meeting to discuss a breakaway series, nevermind actually set one up.

Champ Car managed what, 4, 5 seasons with the teams in charge before it collapsed? And that's a series that doesn't have to put up with massive companies running the teams.

I think Bob Fearnley summed it up correctly: "My view is that the teams can't agree what day it is, never mind be able to agree cost-cutting measures."

The issue is that you have 11 teams with different perspectives all trying to get the best deal. It's plainly obvious why it doesn't work.

Equally, Tony Fernandes isn't the best person to go around preaching about the best way to run a sports team.

I hope there'll be dozen of car failures every race next year.

Pretty sure the retirement rate won't be any different compared to this year despite the new engine rules.

Yeah, I know he's mad and I don't care. I do not care. I did not care then. I do not care now. I'm here to race him.

At least Korea's out of the way early on. Triple header will be fun. Add in the 4 tests and there's going to be some destroyed personnel by the end of the season.

Oh, and Spa is the bank holiday weekend. Arse.

New Jersey, Canada, Mexico, Austin, Brazil all evening races here in the UK. Good Tast.
(What time of day will the Russian race be on at, IF it takes place? )

Can't hurt F1 with its constant desire to penetrate the American Wallet market as well.

I'd guess Russia will be mid-late morning UK time.

Expect Bernie to screw with the local start time so it's a standard 1pm start then.

No offense, but seriously? That's your complaint? That Russia might get moved a couple of hours, which makes literally no difference to anybody, even in the paddock?

Ok so sometimes I come across as complaining when I'm just...pointing out what I expect to happen that I have no feeling towards either way?

Erm...sorry :p

Is there any reason Monaco can't be moved forward a week?

Isn't the Friday a public holiday (the reason why F1 practice is on the Thursday) and has always been associated with the race since it began? :?
