Well if it is familiarity you want then let's go get Schumi and Rubens back.

Bianchi or Massa, easy choice.

Running only 1 car would be an easier choice than having Massa in the 2nd....

Lewis Hamilton and Vettel had so much adaption problems in the current F1...

Seriously stop with the experience argument. It's the only thing he still has left for keeping his seat, but it's such a bullshit argument. Ferrari gave Massa enough room after his accident to recover and reclaim himself. But he has proven since at least 2011 that he has reached his limit.

All new tracks being built need to conform FIA Grade 1 technical specifications. Not existing ones.

Besides who the fuck cares if they tarmac the runs off? Road America's run offs are already miles long as is. Sorry you'd rather see drivers flip 35 times through gravel and risk having their head removed than being able to push hard and run a little bit wide when they make a mistake yeah? Yeah thought so.

Road America doesn't have anywhere near enough run off at Canada Corner or the Kink. And the entire circuit would require new catch fences, garages etc. It's not even slightly close to being F1 spec.

Also, you're wrong about saying existing circuits do not need to conform to FIA Grade 1 specifications. Existing F1 tracks do not, however circuits which are new or returning to F1 do. Circuits already on the circuit can have certain features grand fathered in, however circuits applying for an F1 race cannot. This is why Donington removed the Dunlop Bridge (rather than a rebrand), because it didn't meet height specifications. Now it can't go back because it's no longer grandfathered into the old circuit.

I don't like tarmac run off because it looks like crap, makes the cars look slower and makes tracks easier.

oh and i like seeing drivers beheaded lolol damn you got me

This is how Spa got its whole rehaul indeed.

Pretty stupid system really. Surely either a circuit is safe or it's not...

I'd just put SAFER barrier properly angled to safely recieve any cars going off at the kink.

How old are the current Grade 1 rules?

I'm thinking about turn 13 in IMS (Oval T1). In the year 2000 it didn't had soft walls yet. I wouldn't imagine seeing that turn in that condition, being considered for today's F1.

FIA restrictions on new tracks are so tough. Most of the new tracks are ultra conservative. Except Turkey and Austin, they pushed the limits and they're great tracks.

I don't care about run offs. I can guarantee apart from a chicane before the kink (one is already there) no changes will be made to what the cars run on now. Throw a hissy fit on the run off by all means, I don't care if the quality of accidents reduces is affected.

Yes you could totally guarantee that.

I don't know why you have to be so fucking rude Scotty, you are without doubt one of the worst members here, if you spent as much time reading my original post as you did concocting that reply, then perhaps you wouldn't come off as the c**t you do (and maybe you'd understand the point I was trying to make, like it seems everybody else has).

Take the kink layout and the whole run to Canada corner. Go to an airport tarmac and draw it with white lines instead of having the fences and trees a couple meters from the road.

Will it look as spectacular/challenging? Does it still make sense to have such a curving layout even? Just draw a gymkhana course on the ground with straight lines linking hairpins/chicanes.

Don't even put cones that could fly off and kill someone, just penalise drivers who go over the white line, and there you go, REAL RACIN'.

Don't forget to widen the track by another 50%.

It was just better to build a new track from scratch rather than destroy a classic one.

Ferrari's 2014 Formula 1 driver line-up verdict now imminent
By Jonathan Noble Saturday, September 7th 2013, 17:03 GMT

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo says the team's 2014 Formula 1 driver line-up will be decided within days - and he did not rule out a return for Kimi Raikkonen.

With Ferrari having evaluated for several weeks whether to replace Felipe Massa for next year, di Montezemolo revealed at Monza that decision time was imminent.

"We will think of this [the 2014 drivers] immediately after Monza because we wanted to arrive at this weekend without any strange pressure," said di Montezemolo to reporters in the paddock at the Italian Grand Prix.

"We will take a decision in the next days - and we haven't taken any kind of decision yet. We haven't signed a contract with anybody. We will talk with Massa, then we have our opinion, and then we will decide."

Although Ferrari insists that a good performance at the Italian GP could still be enough for Massa to keep his seat, the team has been seriously evaluating other options.

And although most of the current speculation has revolved around Raikkonen, di Montezemolo said that the shortlist was longer than just the Finn.

"We can take somebody else... we have several names," he said.

NO BARRIERS TO RAIKKONEN RETURN

However, di Montezemolo did make it clear that despite the circumstances of Raikkonen's departure at the end of 2009 to make way for Alonso, it would not be impossible for the Finn to return.

When asked if he would be comfortable working with Raikkonen again after what happened before, di Montezemolo said: "What happened? We won a world championship.

"Kimi is a good driver. For us it was a big satisfaction for him to win the first championship without Michael [Schumacher] and without Ross [Brawn].

"In any case, it is not a problem, but also there are some possibilities with other drivers. But there is also the possibility like last year that we decide to continue with Felipe."

He added: "We haven't taken any kind of decision yet at all. In any decision you have to be very careful because you have a plus or minus.

"Now is time to take the decision. Before was too early, but we will take it now."

Amazing how one good performance can give a contract for a year.
